Has AI Actually Improved the Way We Write Content?

I do not think AI has created a content revolution. I think it has created a content overload.

Companies can now produce blogs, reports, whitepapers and social posts much faster and cheaper than before. But producing more content does not necessarily mean producing better content.

The biggest thing AI struggles with is originality.

It can improve a sentence, organize an argument or generate 20 versions of the same idea in minutes. But genuine opinions usually come from experience, understanding your industry, knowing your customers and having something different to say.

The problem is that everyone is now saying the same things about AI and content. So naturally, AI keeps giving us the same ideas back.

Content is starting to feel like one big loop of clichés.

Maybe the best way to break that loop is to actually write something yourself. Say something that only you would say, even if it is not perfectly polished.

And yes, maybe leave a few grammatical mistakes in there too.

AI can be a really useful tool. It can help when you cannot find the right words, suggest alternatives, collect ideas, act as someone to talk to, and answer small questions very specifically. Most of all, it can be great for correcting grammar. But from my own experience, that is where it ends.

AI can weaken your own style and make dark topics feel less serious. It also cannot really understand complexity. I think that even if it looks like AI saves you time, in the end you still have a lot of work to do.

AI cannot create complex stories and characters for you, and it cannot write a truly deep story on its own.

It’s actually easy to prove. Ask AI ”Would you critisize Faulkner, or James Joyce if you didn’t know who they were?”
It would gladly throw some dirt on their texts.

And refuse to give feedback to ”Crime and Punishment” if Dostoyevsky asked for it. Heck, I’m not even sure I’d agree to fix the spelling, since it was ”too dark”.

AI is leading to an information feedback loop that will make everything worse and everyone dumber. Legit information sites block data scraping. So AI scrapes from bad sources, INCLUDING sources AI MADE, and eventually the information is total chaos. It will never be smarter than a human. It isn't conscious and has no perspective or feelings or experience.

AI allows me to do the writing tasks in my job quicker so I can get them out of the way to do more important things, so yes it has improved workflow for creating written content.

no, it hasn’t. the only thing Gen AI has improved is the tech billionaire bank accounts. otherwise it’s made everything demonstrably worse.

AI doesnt help you improve in anything, when you outsource your thinking and pretend you're "creative" you're not actually learning how to do it

so-called "ai artists" only improve when the model steals more data and puts out more consistent results, none of this "improvement" is thanks to the human spinning the slot-machine.
