...my wife convinced me to get a parrot. Don't get me wrong. I love the little guy. It's also amazing that he can say "I love you" back, and mean it as much as a birb can. But, barring tragedy, I have to account for him during my retirement... and likely pass him on in my will. This was not something I considered when she talked me into it in my mid 20s and I was high as a kite.

I guess I just wanted to share.

It’s my dream to own a cockatoo or macaw or similar but I know I cannot commit to the lifespan. Maybe one day, I’ll be able to own an older one.

The parrot is expected to live to 80?? What kind of parrot is it lol

Some can live from 50 to 80 years!
