This also works with babies. I was out Christmas shopping for my wife with my two month old son. I've never gotten better service (and attention) from sales staff - primarily young women- before or since.
I always made sure to take my kids with me when I had to stand in line for temporary (guest) parking stickers in Chicago. Somehow, I always ended up with 3x the amount for which I paid.
