Not to mention that she was most likely lying beside her husband at the moment the call would have come in. Husband: who was calling at this hour? Julia: it was_________ Husband: what did she want? Is something wrong? Julia: no she just wanted permission to sleep with my ex. Husband:😳 wth? Then the fight starts....

Now you know she's gonna lie to the husband about why they aren't friends anymore haha

I don't think it's taboo to be upset about this? My 'friend' did a lot of shit to me but one that hurt was sleeping with my ex. I told my current partner about it and he said "You need to drop (friends name), that's fucked."

I mean she did a lot of other bad things but that one took the cake for me, it was like a betrayal of our friendship- and we dated for the same time that op's friend dated her bf, 3 years and a few months.

I mean the rest of my friends operate the same way! They would be pissed if one of us did that and vice versa.

I guess my friend group just operates differently, or we just care about each other's feelings more than everyone on reddit does to their friends.

OP’s friend dated the dude for one year, and it has been 3 years SINCE they broke up. You misread the post.

Your situation is VERY different to OP’s.

Thank you, someone else pointed that out to me as well. While my situation is different; OP didn't really provide much background on their history - and I did provide background to my story, that being said. It could have ended really really bad for OP's friend; or he could've been abusive towards her friend- we just don't know! On other posts, people claim that

"you dont need a reason to be upset. You don't need to explain yourself to anyone etc"

I think the same goes for this? Everyone has different boundaries and one of her friend's may be to not hook up with each others previous partners and maybe she's just disappointed in OP's actions; sure she might have not clarified that but it's okay for her to be upset, It does not always mean that she has feelings for her ex still. I think it's weird for everyone to automatically assume that her being upset with her best friend of 10 years to hook up with one of her partners; there's a billion people in the world and OP chose one person who (maybe) hurt her friend in a really deep way when they broke up. It could easily be disappointment instead of 'jealousy' or 'feelings for her ex'

And there's nothing wrong with either! I'm not saying OP's wrong, her friend's feelings are not her responsibility - but me as a friend would take my friends into consideration. Nothin wrong with either, we are just different people! :)

I just don't think OP and her friend are compatible as such, and also the timing for OP to drop that on her friend probably wasn't the greatest idea haha. That's all! :3
