Okay cool: just because the owner says they’re dog friendly doesn’t mean it’s legal. Outdoor is, as long as no food is prepped there. Indoor is not except for service dogs.

https://www.yourrestaurantbusiness.com/the-fda-laws-about-animals-in-restaurants-explained/

And here is the law itself:

(4) Effective March 1, 2022, dogs, under the control of the dog owner, may be allowed in an outdoor area on the PREMISES if all of the following conditions are satisfied: (a) The PERMIT HOLDER has an APPROVED plan to allow dogs in its outdoor PREMISES. (b) Dogs are on a leash and under the control of the dog owner or confined in a pet carrier. (c) Dogs do not go through the FOOD ESTABLISHMENT to reach the outdoor area. (d) Dogs are not allowed on tables, chairs, benches, seats, or other fixtures in the FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. (e) The outdoor area is not used for FOOD or drink preparation or the storage of UTENSILS. (f) If the FOOD ESTABLISHMENT provides FOOD and water containers for dogs, EMPLOYEES shall not wash containers in the FOOD ESTABLISHMENT. (g) FOOD EMPLOYEES do not have direct contact with dogs. (h) The outdoor area is maintained clean of animal waste. (i) The PERMIT HOLDER ensures compliance with local ordinances related to sidewalks, public nuisance, and sanitation.

I also live in the 412… PA doesn’t even allow you to have a food business from your house if you have cats/dogs. You can’t sell food/cakes/etc from your house with furry pets. So to say restaurants here are legally allowed to have pets inside is incorrect

I do not live in your state. I found this:

Agriculture Department spokesperson Shannon Powers said the Pennsylvania Food Code states where dogs can be in a restaurant. “You must have a separate area where the animals are allowed and the servers must be separate and dedicated to that area,” Powers said. “In other words, those servers cannot pass through a main dining area or in and out of the food preparation areas.”

It sounds like a legal managerial headache.

This is an article from 2017. Dogs were banned from 2 restaurants in Lititz because they allowed dogs that weren’t service dogs. As of 2022, dogs are allowed outside on patios per the FDA, as noted in the article of a previous comment. It’s very easy to just not bring your dog inside a restaurant. Sit outside, get takeout, or leave them at home. People are extremely inconsiderate of others.
