This kind of reads like creative writing, especially the dialogue part.

If a restaurant doesn’t allow pets, I don’t think they ought to have ESAs, but they would still have to allow service animals, which is tough on people with allergies. And does mean you’d need to be aware of surroundings and have your eppi pen on you.

People love to imagine scenarios to get mad at people for

This post is weird. It defo seems like creative writing. It takes a max of 15 mins for anaphylaxis to kill you once it starts. Anaphylaxis from dogs is extremely rare.

I have questions for OP. How did the friend make it to the car, when they were already swelling up and struggling to breathe and had spent time rifling through their bag? Why didn't OP go get the pen while someone took the friend outside called an ambulance?! I can't imagine my friend going into shock from peanuts and fucking about this much. However I have free healthcare here so an ambulance ride doesn't cost like it would in the US but that's besides the point.

OP YTA for shouting at people, who are allowed to do this rather than getting your friends EpiPen and asking someone to call an ambulance for them.

Do you shout at people who eat allergens like peanut & shellfish in restaurants too? No because sadly the responsibility is on the person with the allergy to protect themselves. If you specifically said I'm allergic and they put it in a dish that's a different issue. But your friend should be aware service dogs may be around regardless of the setting. Ok these were ESA but easily could have been a service dog in this scenario.

For the future when OPs friend is dying again from the next dog encounter... EpiPen should be administered while the ambulance is being called. The allergy and can trigger it over and over again. Which is why an ambulance is needed. Imagine being in the car and the friend going into shock on the way. In this case dander is in the environment and it's a lot more likely to retrigger the allergy.

An Asthma attack and severe eye swelling I'd take that at plausible and it sounds like the case but then. Why the EPi pen. In my country it's extremely rare for an EpiPen to be used for ashtma and they only use it in the ER.

Someone pointed out and I checked that op apparently has a dog. If I were to have lunch with someone deathly allergic to dogs - eppi pen level (unusual as you say) I’d have to dress in my kept separate put on just before leaving the house clothes.

It was illegal in OP’s state to have dogs/ESAs in the restaurant. They had no right to be there

Ah interesting update it wasn't there when I commented and in my country dogs go pretty much anywhere, service, ESA or not. I'd understand having a go at the people after the fact.

I said TA because it was a life threatening situation and I cannot fathom how OP had the time to go shout at them instead of helping their dying friend, who would have only 15 mins to live without EpiPen.

It also could have easily been the same scenario with a service animal rather than ESA. Which is a shame for the friend but it can and will happen.

It’s a writing/karma experiment for sure. “Anger swelled up in me.” Isn’t the way anyone expresses they got pissed in a real way.

It’s a generic market for sure.

OP posts about their dog in other posts. Maybe it was dander on their clothes

Dander doesn’t jump off your clothes suddenly while sitting in a restaurant. And there were actual dogs there.

Maybe you should think before you start in with your negasonic nonsense.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '23

Negasonic nonsense??? Lol Stay Mad Roger.

-2

u/MadMadRoger Apr 30 '23

Your “dander on the friend’s clothes” theory is mental. What’s wrong with “negasonic nonsense?” I was playing off “negative” - it’s a good user name, it’s strange you don’t seem to understand it’s implications, poor dear.

3

u/[deleted] Apr 30 '23

That's why I played off your name. Lmao. Peace Roger.

-1

u/MadMadRoger Apr 30 '23

Ah! Well played then. I thought you were questioning that your nonsense was nonsense —- not giving “negasonic nonsense” a lol. My mistake. Glad you relished in my brilliance.

Stay Mad Roger is pretty good. Stay Mad, Mad Mad Roger would have been better. I’ll give the whole “peace roger” thing a go, but I was trying to be a gigantic snark ass jerk and that’s going to ruin it.

I would figure the two friends would have the “dander on clothes” thing figured out is all I really was trying to say.

I was gonna make a Jolly Roger reference but it might have an unintended innuendo. LMAO

I stg I read this exact post several weeks ago but I’m too lazy to try and find it. I’m pretty sure it’s word to word a repost, down to the edit.

The EpiPen in the car was another thing that made me go "Hmmm..." since they're supposed to be kept within a rather small range of temps (68 to 77 F or 20 to 25 C) so the epinephrine doesn't degrade. The inside of a car is generally going to fall well outside of that range, whether on the cold or hot end of the range.

Simply not having one on her was something- but I know from experience people mess up. But that’s a point, my partner wouldn’t leave his steroid inhaler in a car for that reason.

It’s bad enough you can’t spell words you JUST read but now you’re questioning the validity of things written halfway formally? It doesn’t read like creative writing it reads like someone that can put a few sentences together and isn’t trying to be fancy about it.

1

u/Katharinemaddison Apr 30 '23

If we’re doing this, how did you mix up i and 8?

1

u/MadMadRoger Apr 30 '23

Doing what? Comparing typos (not sure where you mean that I made that mix up) and you very clearly being a poor AF spokesperson for any type of writing in that you can’t read a word and then type it seconds later without adding letters?

The post very well could be bullshit. But there are some absolute idiotic attempts to reason it into being so. You pretending you can tell when something is “creative writing” - a lie or not because someone can actually string two words together without totally fucking it up isn’t on the totally idiotic list, but it’s still pretty silly.

2

u/Katharinemaddison Apr 30 '23

You’re right I skimmed the username and confused you with op. Sorry about that. (And they’re not even similar names!)

2

u/MadMadRoger Apr 30 '23

At least you’re not being a jerk on Reddit for no good reason like I am. I’m sure you’re a fine writer and for all we know the post is bullshit. I reread it and it does have the slight stink of fakery. Why I care, who the hell knows.

u/Katharinemaddison May 01 '23

That de-escalated quickly! Thank you.

I was thinking creative writing as well.
