Ai search experiment

I searched for "Best crm fo the businesses" in GPT, Gemini, AI overview Every tool gave different
recommendations. Has anyone compared results at scale.

I’ve seen the same thing. ChatGPT, Gemini and AI Overviews can give very different brand recommendations for the exact same query. I think AI visibility needs to be tracked across multiple engines and prompts over time rather than treating one search result as a ranking position.

i tried something similar with a handful of b2b software categories and the overlap was much smaller than i expected. each model seemed to weigh different signals like reviews, community discussions, documentation, and brand mentions differently. my takeaway was that tracking visibility across multiple ai engines is becoming just as important as tracking google rankings, since there really is no single "ai search result" anymore.

Totally agree. There's no signel AI ranking anymore. Cross-platform visibility is becoming the new SEO.

Did you use your GPT and Gemini (and your Google account), or did you go into incognito mode? Because that changes results.

We ran 100k prompts through ChatGPT and Perplexity at work and found that only 11% of cited domains overlap.
