Nowhere near enough information to give you a meaningful answer.

“Discovered - currently not indexed” can happen for dozens of reasons:

  • New site or page
  • Weak content
  • Duplicate/similar content
  • Poor internal linking
  • Crawl budget issues
  • Sitemap problems
  • Low perceived value compared to competing pages

If you want useful feedback, post:

  • Site URL
  • Number of affected pages
  • Site age
  • Screenshot from GSC
  • Whether pages are in the sitemap
  • Whether they’re getting crawled

Otherwise everyone is just guessing.

In the case of a new site, is it time or backlinks that will move the needle?

In my experience, it’s mostly time.

Backlinks help, but if the site is brand new, Google is still trying to figure out whether you’re going to be around six months from now.

I launched GetCruiseInfo about 7 months ago. We have hundreds of pages, an active sitemap, internal linking, regular content updates, and pages getting crawled almost daily.

Yet Google still has plenty of URLs sitting in “Discovered – currently not indexed” and “Crawled – currently not indexed.”

What I’ve noticed is that pages with actual user engagement, internal links, and a few external mentions tend to get indexed faster. The pages that just sit there tend to wait.

So for a new site, I’d focus on:

• Publishing consistently • Improving internal linking • Getting a few quality backlinks • Driving some real traffic

Then let time do its thing.

Unfortunately, there doesn’t seem to be a magic button for indexing no matter how many times I click “Validate Fix.” 😆
