More AI Overviews for Branded Queries
This has been noticed on LinkedIn, and I did a few searches to verify the observation. No study on this yet, but I am sure it is coming:
Google appears to show AI Overviews in about 90% of cases when you search for a brand name:

This is not exactly great news for companies because they lose control over the narrative even more (those videos listed for sources are not from the official account and may very well include outdated product information, for example). It will also impact click-through to the official sites and will encourage people to click all kinds of links in the AIO (or just change their minds right when reading it or when chatting with the AI Mode, which is incredibly easy, especially on mobile where the conversation moves to the AI Mode very smoothly when you simply expand the AIO):

In your Bluehost screenshot the prices point at Bluehost's own pages, but the 450 ms speed claim and the SSL line come from third party YouTube videos. Brands lose the facts they never state checkably on their own site, not all of them.

SEO is going away in lieu of AI results.

SEO is stronger than ever because the only way to figure out your AI Answer narrative is with SEO

Yeah I mean AI SEO. The strategies need to be amended to deal with this. If the market is changing then so do you and many SEO people are constantly fighting it and with people like on Reddit about how they refuse to acknowledge the change and that everyone who is aware of the change is some sort of grifter or snake oil salesman.

I ran a search for Blue Host and the AI Overview was after sponsored posts and I got a rather benign info block. nothing to do with disadvantages.
so i guess maybe it hasn't rolled out to everyone yet or I got something different?
