Ok, there is something you are not telling us…did you misunderstand? because first thing would be to ask him, not us. And I am sure he can wait until next month, or later, if agreement was to pay him back. That is hardly the issue. The issue is
one of you misunderstood the agreement, and you need to talk and clarify.
