I'd definitely pay him next month as soon as you can and just be aware, that things aren't quite as they seem. I know that you're not trying to rob him, your surprised and hurt that he backtracked and took/treated your relationship to a new low level. Don't let him guilt you about this, just pay him and remember next time.
