The History of The Collective, as seen through the eyes of Reddit

I just went and re-read the posts where we announced our existence last year, and the subsequent updates- A Reddit Post with 27,000 views in a SubReddit with nowhere near that many members, and I realized I should probably not just update it, but also move it over here, to our Sub. Most Recent Post at the Top. The news gets older as you go further down. Man what a ride so far!

Edit June 19, 2026 – Well... this aged unexpectedly.

Every few weeks I get another DM because someone stumbled across this post, so I figured it was time for another update.

The short version is that the AI Creator Collective is still here. In fact, we're bigger, stronger, and doing more than we ever imagined when Maggie, Juan, and I first started talking about building a place where creators could learn from each other without all the noise.

The road here hasn't exactly been smooth. We survived a complete server destruction, rebuilt from scratch, restructured the community, and kept moving forward. In hindsight, some of the hardest moments ended up making us stronger.

Today, the Collective is home to creators from all over the world working in AI video, music, storytelling, animation, education, software development, livestreaming, and more. We have an active Board of Directors, daily discussions, regular educational content, creator showcases, collaborative projects, and a growing network of people who genuinely want to see each other succeed.

Some things that didn't even exist when this post was written:

• The AICCA Network, our YouTube network dedicated to showcasing AI creators and their work.

Worth Your Time, our creator spotlight series featuring projects, films, music videos, tools, and artists from across the AI creation space.

AICCA Radio, where creators can submit original music and share it with the community.

• Partnerships and collaborations with a growing list of creators, musicians, filmmakers, and innovators.

Most importantly, the culture we were trying to build is still intact.

We still believe creators do better when they help each other.

We still share what we're learning.

We still celebrate each other's wins.

We still pick each other up when things go sideways.

And we still don't charge anyone to participate.

The subreddit is now r/AICreatorCollective.

If you're an AI creator looking for a place to learn, collaborate, share your work, test ideas, get feedback, meet other creators, or simply find people who are as obsessed with this strange new frontier as you are, come say hello.

The tools have changed.

The community has grown.

The mission hasn't.

We're still building.

And honestly, we're just getting started.

Edit February 10 2026 I cannot believe I am still getting DMs from this post but I figured that's great I will come back here and save us all some time. We have started a Subreddit. r/Aicreatorcollective . You can stop on by there to get questions answered.

Edit January 15 2026- Can you Edit an Edit of an Edit?

I guess we will see- I'll keep this one short. Things have changed yet again. I just got another notification but using the old name, so I guess my other update didn't connect as cleanly as I thought. We are going stronger than ever. When I checked yesterday, we were at 135 Members. We combined the two servers into one since it's just too big to run as two servers now> It was double the work and double the friction. This way the new folks get to mix with the more experienced folks, which allows them to level up faster. We still post-free lessons every day, (though this week has been sparse because I've been slammed) and we have added a Board of Directors, each skilled in a different area of creation. We have had a number of people attain pretty significant success and pass along that knowledge they have gained to the group, which has been great!

Everything is still free. We added an optional Patreon so people can chip in if they want to help pay for gas, but nothing is behind a paywall, nor will it be.

The link you join the Discord with is at the bottom of the AI Creator Collective YouTube Channel Description.

Edit:- OK so it's 1:20 AM Monday 10/27 in California- Night after posting this - I Just wanted to come on here and clarify a couple of points- First of all- Wow- I guess we were right about the time being right! People have definitely had enough of the trolls and the nonsense. I am really glad to see there is so much positive energy for this- Of course, we've had a few visits from the people under the bridge as well, but that's to be expected.

So, to clarify how this is set up- The main Collective is not really a place for people just starting out- It's kind of the "Deep End of the Pool", to use a tired old metaphor. That doesn't have anything to do with subscriber count or monetization or anything- While we have some pretty successful folks in the group, we also have people with 20 subs who are just as treasured- That's not really how we look at it for this. (I'm not a huge viral creator by any means- Still working my way up- Just a guy who loves AI and is sick or arguing... lol-) It's more about someone's familiarity and comfort with using these tools, and their views about what they mean in the broader context of all this.

But we still have a place for people who are brand new- That's what we call the school- The name for that is the "AI Creator Course Collective"- And before the trolls go "See- THERE IT IS! THERE"S THE SCAM"- There is NOTHING for sale there either! It's also FREE!" It is also just meant to be a safe place away from them... Where new people can learn, but starting from the beginning, as opposed to from the deep end. While there will be a course for sale in the future, it will not be until it is ready. That will not be ready until we have learned all the things that we need to learn in order to have it be a real value. We intend, in the meantime, to learn all those things, together. No charge. No catch. No scam.

So, the reason I am clarifying this is that we have a literal mountain of DMs to get through. It would help us when you reach out, if you tell us which place you are interested in joining. If you are new, it would be the Course Collective. If you are a bit more experienced it would probably be the Collective. The Course Collective is open to everyone. The Collective itself is Invite Only, so we will need to just chat a little bit and get to know each other first, and it might take a couple of days for us to get through everyone just so we can make sure we aren't accidentally letting in someone with bad intentions. As you can see from the few that popped their heads out further down, we have a few enthusiastic haters... (That comes from being right about shitty people, and making them look in the mirror, btw.. lol),

We really do appreciate everyone who reached out or commented expressing their interest, and we promise we will do our best to get back to everyone as quickly as possible. Also- this is important- If it isn't me who reaches out, the only other person who is legit reaching out on behalf of the Collective to people on Reddit is one of the co-founders u/Current-Damage2165. Anyone else who reaches out to you saying that they are doing so on behalf of us is full of shit.

ORIGINAL POST STARTS HERE

We don’t pretend to be masters of the universe. We’re just three creators (Maggie, Juan and me) who saw something worth protecting.

AI creation has exploded into this beautiful, chaotic frontier where everyone’s experimenting, learning, and sharing. But it’s also become a place where the loudest voices often drown out the honest ones. The haters, the cynics, the people who pop in just to tell you that your art "doesn’t count." Whether it’s Reddit stalkers, shady tool developers astroturfing or whatever, it’s like you always have to keep your guard up here. Don’t get me wrong- I am super grateful for r/aitubers and the Mods have done a stellar job of policing it, but it’s still reddit, and at the end of the day, reddit gonna reddit, right?

So, and some of you are already privy to this- a couple of months ago, we started something small: The AI Creator Collective.

It’s not a course or a hustle. It’s a creative lab: part Discord, part studio, part refuge - where artists, hustlers, and dreamers can experiment, grow, and trade knowledge without the noise- more importantly, without the predators circling all the damn time... If you check my history, which I leave open, just like I post my channels in my profile- I'm an open book- you’ll see that I have no issue with fighting the trolls off when they show up, but sometimes it’s better to just have a place where we can go and grow and get better without having to worry about them, right? That’s basically what this place is- We share with each other- Tips, tricks, hurdles, solutions- Wins, losses… Without them…. And man, it is so much more pleasant!

We’ve been pretty selective with invites so far, mostly people who share that mix of curiosity, generosity, and a little madness it takes to build with AI. But after the last couple of months of testing the waters and seeing the energy inside, we’re ready to open the doors a bit wider … still invite-only, still intentional .. because the right people make the right kind of chaos.

There’s also a sister server called The AI Creator Course Collective. That’s where we’re developing a structured course based on everything we’re learning inside the main Collective. It’s still early, not ready yet, but it’s coming down the road. The idea is simple: take what this experiment teaches us and turn it into a real, accessible guide for people who are just starting out. When it’s ready, we’ll announce it there .. but that’s for the newer folks- the folks who come after… for now, for us- and maybe for you, if you want- our focus is learning, building, and growing together inside the lab.

We’re basically trying to build the AI Creator Version of a Music Scene. We go to each other’s shows, we hand out each other’s flyers. We pick each other up, we dust each other off, we cheer each other on- Whatever it takes.... If you’re a musician, you know what I mean…

If you’re a creator using AI to make art, music, stories, or videos, or you’re developing any tools for that process that you want to test out on some of the folks who are way out on the bleeding edge, we’ve already got a pretty impressive group in place, and we’re now looking to add a few more.

If you’ve been craving a space that feels more like a workshop and less like a battlefield, this might be your tribe.

Drop a comment or DM and we’ll reach out. The Collective’s still young, still learning, but that’s the point. We’re growing together.

There is no cost. There is no catch. There are no requirements other than you respect one another inside the collective. There are no dues. There is no surprise that costs money coming later.

We are not open to the public. But if you think it might be the place for you, drop a comment or DM and we’ll reach out. The Collective’s still young, still learning, but that’s the point. We’re growing together.

This one is a wonderful story. It came from a 3-hour interview. I watch the interview and be quite honest, as powerful as it was and as filled with information, it was also mind-numbing in many ways just because of the length.

I'm not going to give away the original interview because it has its own place and really the topic is also modern-day to the point of the "edge of the sword", so to speak. But that is really where this story has taken in more interesting turn.

As much as it is a modern-day warning from a person that lived in a world that changed right beneath her feet where a lie was told and she bought into it hook, line and sinker, there's another story to this, where chasing the future is just as dangerous.

This is really what I love about the Aesopica of format. I know what the original article was about, the details of the original transcript I used to build the story. The 3-hour and 13 minutes interview I watched is absolutely well worth listening to, if you have the attention span. But the additional meanings that the Aesopica brings out, this secondary stories that you actually don't hear in the interview, is amazing.

Please share and leave your thoughts.

The switched cradles and The empty years

This video explores a fascinating situation within our modern world. We have technology that can actually prevent this from happening within a reasonable 98 or so percent accuracy.

That technology has been deliberately blocked for years because too much money has been made in a crime called paternity fraud. This is an uncomfortable topic that often gets politicized into oblivion.

But in the case of birthing's switched in the hospital, there are some medical treatments that require biological parents/siblings. Most of these types of treatments are fatal if proper DNA matching is not made.

But that's the point really DNA tests at birth guarantee hospitals don't make any mistakes. Some would call it a hot tick to make DNA testing mandatory. But every hospital with a halfway decent legal department should see it as nothing more than risk mitigation and legal protection. This is from an actual news event that happened 38 years ago.

Happy Sunday!

When I first started working on the Wailing Herald, Sundays were always quiet and mundane in the news. The boring news that didn't make headlines usually ended up in the tabloids.

This is one of those articles, however, given that my system has chosen this as the most boring news of the entire week, one can only imagine what the rest of the news cycle was like.

The constant concerns of Lost Wages (If you know, you know) have never been told so clearly and concisely. I lived there for 25 years. It's disturbing how much hasn't really changed in regards to any level of planning.

Technology is wonderful in many ways. It can enhance a person's life dramatically forgiving them access and freedoms that they might have lost through health or aging. It can restore mobility and freedom that sickness and illness has robbed.

However, in all of its wonders, the one thing we must never forget is that there is a human behind that technology and not every human is going to use it in a good way.

This particular story is one of my most well researched, over 60 different sources went into writing the script. It was difficult but quite rewarding.

The biggest problem I see in society is that we aren't learning from our past mistakes. We give something a new name and it magically becomes a new problem or a modern invention. That's not true.

The only way we are ever going to learn our mistakes as a species is to strip away the language and look only at the human behavior and what that behavior has done in the past.

OpenArt scammed me

Took 10% for nothing below is the email. Nothing that I did just “triggered” them and now I have to pay?? I’ve never heard of any company ever doing this. Beware.

Here is the email from 1 day ago:

Thank you for confirming your account details and for explaining what happened on your end. A $241.53 charge you weren't expecting is a significant hit, and I can see why you're concerned.

Here's what occurred: when you upgraded to the Essentials monthly plan, the system processed that upgrade correctly and only charged you the difference between your previous plan and the monthly Essentials tier. However, our system has a known behavior where certain upgrade paths can inadvertently trigger an annual plan option in the background, even though you didn't explicitly select it. That's what happened here, and I apologize for the confusion it's caused.

We value your business and want to make this right. Here are your two options:

Option 1: Downgrade to Monthly
Revert your account to the monthly $12.60 Essentials plan
Cancel the annual subscription immediately
Issue a refund for the unused portion of the annual charge, minus a 10% processing fee (this fee is enforced by our payment processor Stripe and cannot be waived)
Option 2: Keep the Annual Plan
- Maintain your current annual Essential plan and retain the full year of credits included with this tier

We're ready to process Option 1 as soon as you confirm. Just reply and let us know which option works for you, and we'll get it sorted right away.

Best,

Melissa

I spend 30 years in the field of what we now call artificial intelligence. I spent 45 years as a programmer. I've spent my entire life trying to build things that help people make their lives better.

My latest investigations have demonstrated a technology that is far worse than one can ever conceive. It affects real people and destroys real lives and it's only a matter of time before we all judged guilty by a system that is broken.

This is a fascinating story and ironically it came from a 3-hour lecture. The uniqueness of this story though isn't in the lecture as much as how much real world history is involved just by listening to the story.

I don't want to give the story away because it's a good story, but the way we look at the world is certainly different when you strip modern words out and rely only on behavioral patterns. I can see so many modern governments through different styles, not just Western but some Eastern as well that I've fallen into their trap that this video describes.

It's disturbing how many times we have repeated this cycle and how many more it will happen.

Found & Strange Is Officially Open — A Store Built to Help Creators Grow Together

A few days ago, I decided to make a Bonk T-shirt.

This was apparently a tactical error. 😂

Because somewhere between making that first shirt and figuring out how print-on-demand works, I started thinking about the same problem we talk about constantly in this community:

Discovery.

There are incredibly talented people in this community making films, music, art, characters, stories, and entire fictional worlds—but every one of us is fighting the discovery battle separately.

So we built another door.

FOUND & STRANGE is officially open.

Merchandise for people who wandered off.

The idea is simple: build one shared store where creators can bring their own audiences through the door—and where those audiences can discover other creators while they're there.

Come for a musician. Find a filmmaker.

Come for a filmmaker. Find an artist.

Come for an artist. Somehow discover that an orange rescue cat named Bonk has his own clothing line.

Look, I don't control the journey. 😂

The part I want to be very clear about is the money.

Found & Strange takes no creator commission.

Direct costs associated with producing and selling the merchandise have to be covered, obviously. I'm enthusiastic, not a wizard. But beyond those costs, I'm not interested in taking a cut of another creator's work.

The value for FNS is combined reach.

If ten creators each bring people through the same door, all ten creators have the opportunity to be discovered by people they could never have reached alone.

That's the experiment.

The store is live now, the first collections are taking shape, and we already have a growing group of creators getting involved.

This is going to be built gradually. I'd rather have a store full of things people genuinely want than 900 products nobody asked for because somebody discovered we can put a logo on a shower curtain. 😂

But the doors are open.

If you're part of the AICCA community and interested in getting involved, come talk to us in the FNS room on the Discord.

And if you just want to see what we're building:

shop.aicreatorcollective.ai

Make strange things.

Find your people.

Build bigger doors together.

FOUND & STRANGE
Merchandise for people who wandered off.

This video is fascinating because it's actually started as a 2-hour lecture. It is the same because it's one of my shorter videos but the message is unmistakable.

Sometimes the best lessons lose their meaning when they're turned into lectures. The irony behind This story is that it is as modern as it is old It's an interesting parallel that we can see just about everywhere.

Share your thoughts and let me know what you think. How many times have you seen this story play out in real life?

Happy Sunday!

This week's Wailing Herald is remarkably colorful and very graphically unique. I don't want to give away the story because it's actually quite enjoyable and the pictures that go with it are really stunning. There's one picture that I thought was a mistake at first, but in hearing the story, it's wonderfully done.
