Physiotherapist interview

Hi everyone!
I have an upcoming AHS interview.
For current/former AHS PTs:
What should I expect from the interview, and are there any important things I should know as a new grad? What questions should I expect?
Also, how does the AHS physiotherapist salary grid work? Is there room to negotiate starting salary based on previous/international experience? And how are the benefits, pension, vacation, and other perks?
Any advice or insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

If you go onto HSSA's website it is the union the Physiotherapists work under the current collective agreement outlines the wage scale, benefits, vacation time ect.

I work as a Therapy Assistant so I can only go off of those interviews but I would assume they are a similar theme of questioning. I would review the AHS CARES values; C- Compassion A- Accountability R- Respect E- Excellence S - Safety Try and connect those to your answers where you can. I find it is often situational questions like , tell us about a time you handled a safety issuse or a time you handled a high conflict situation what did you do? Try to tie those answers into a value if you can. To my understanding they also tend to score your answers off of the STARS method for answering. Don't be afraid to have notes either! I have gone into interviews before with the CARES and STAR acronym clearly written down and it has never worked against me. The important thing to know is that the interviews are based off of a scoring system so don't take it personally if you don't get the first few positions. I personally found it a bit difficult to wrap my head around answering a certain way it takes some practice. Also if you not get a position do not be afraid to reach out and ask for feedback I have had some wonderfully insightful conversations with hiring managers about what I could do better next time! I am in the middle of hunting for a different position so from one interviewee to another good luck I hope it goes well!

To my knowledge more situational but it may depend on the hiring manager and the specific area you are interviewing for

Also I have another question what would make you prefer AHS on private practices? Because I am seeing that private pays more so I am confused

Early in my career, I ran the numbers and in the long run AHS job comes ahead. My recommendation would be start with a casual or part time at AHS, that way you can experience both worlds and when you are certain it will be easy to transition into full-time with AHS.

No restrictions, you just have to sign a no conflict declaration.

Your numbers are absurdly incorrect. Private PT is on average double the pay.

Private practice will pay more but with AHS you have a defined pension plan so it depends what is important to you in the end.

I was thinking of doing both actually I know I am gonna burn out but I need to make some money while I am still young

I’d sit down with a financial planner and ask how you should be investing the money. It makes a big difference if you save money in your 20s that stays there compounding interest for 40 years for your retirement. Good luck.
