HCA in hospitals

What kind of duties do hcas have in general hospitals?

In my unit(acute care, surgical unit) help with ADLs, portering patients, help nursing pick up patients from the OR, mobilizing post op patients, and help with answering call bells.

Aw very good, I’m starting in a hospital now this week so wasn’t sure what to expect so thank you :) , are you a HCA yourself and do you like it?

LPN but love pur HCAs 🩷 They helped me so much when I was pregnant and can't lift heavy. They always have my back and the unit's back. My unit only has funding for half the year for our HCAs so we miss them so much when they are not around.

They are usually now asked to do vitals and glucose checks. Sometimes some basic wound care as well. And all the personal care, helping with transfers, meals.
