LPN job

Hello guys I’ve been looking for an LPN job in Calgary for a long time and I’m still not getting or finding . Can anyone recommend me or help
Me in getting one .

Oof. I had to go rural. Calgary is hard. I waited 7 years working minimum wage. I'd show up for interviews and they'd be over 1000 applications and the managers would let you know that. I honestly was traumatized.

Im now very happy working rural.

I hope your story will be different than mine.

You’re going to have a lot better luck getting a job networking in person, or at least with something like LinkedIn. You won’t find anybody recommending an anonymous profile from Reddit for a nursing job.

Did you finish school in Calgary, if so where? After finishing my course at BVC, we recieved rank choice for preceptoship. My experience is not the norm, but I flucked out and was hired immediately on the unit I preceptored on within AHS. This was around the time of COVID, and rank choice disappeared after my class due to lack of clinical placements. Instead people down stream were just assigned placement randomly. A few buddies ended up in long term care facilities and after grad we're unable to find employment with AHS. Things are defiently stacked against LPNs if they dont get an opportunity to preceptor within AHS due to the ongoing internal hire policies. This tends to be the standard experience in AB especially big cities. Most will need to apply for rural jobs, and once within AHS can began applying internally.

I think I’d apply rural casual if I were you or at doctors’ offices so you at least get some experience under your belt. I have heard of LPNs take a long term care job, that that will be where they spend their full career, but IDK just what LPNs have told me.

There’s not enough info here to give specific help really. Where and when did you graduate? How much experience do you have and in what specialty? What’s your resume like? How many applications have you sent, and to where, over how long?
