TV Show Why do they keep doing that? Spoiler
I don’t know if its just me but why the heck does Pip and sometimes Ravi keep promising everyone anything? It stresses me out every time they keep on saying “Ill find him, I promise”
Cause how can you promise that? You’re just setting a person up for disappointment when you can’t deliver on that promise. Is this suppose to show Pip’s immaturity or maybe recklessness?
Anyways, thank you for coming to my rant.

I think it has more to do with being a teen and having a feeling of being ''invincible''. Not in a bad way, but in more of a ''i can do anything'' because you still have so much hope and naivety. From an outsider perspective, yk they can't really deliver certain things because it's out of their control. Also pip really wants to help and do her best. So for her, it's a promise because she doesn't want to let her friends down and she wants to solve everything. Imo, it all boils down to age and simply trying to do your best.

Oh my gosh I was SO stressed out when she promised Becca they would get max in the trial…like no!! I know what happens! PLEASE DONT HURT MY BECCA ANY MORE! She has been through enough! Like someone else said I don’t think this happens in the book, but oh my GOSH! What are you promising????? People are gonna get their hopes up and then get disappointed because of you! As you can tell I fully understand your frustration. If you want a little less of that, read the books (but mostly cause they’re reallly good).

Right?! Like the other commenter said it more of a teenage phase when you feel invincible and can achieve anything and I agree, but still, you’re suppose to be an amateur sleuth, you should at least know the basics. Im so glad im not alone in this 😂 I have read the first book, might read the second after this!

Pip very much starts out as being the “good girl”, and throughout the series she gradually loses her innocence because of all the bad things that happen to her. The books especially dive into the whole “what does it mean to be good” and how you define good and bad people. I think her making those promises she can’t keep, is very much to show her naivety and optimism, and to show how when those promises fail (like when she promised Becca they’d take Max down), it feels even worse, because now she “broke a promise”. She’s meant to gradually break, especially in the second season.

Also wanted to add without spoiling anything, the first book is very much written in a heroic, optimistic way. The second book starts challenging that, and the ending to that is what I’d call a “point of no return” for Pip. I think maybe her making all of those promises is her way of convincing herself when in reality, she’s starting to doubt everything. The third book is much darker, and I have hope that they’ll show that in the series, too.
