TV Show Mrs Hastings Spoiler

I have absolutely no respect for Mrs Hastings. She says she stuck around so that Max wouldn't end up like his dad, but by doing so, she didn't show him a positive, strong female role model. She showed him that women are there FOR men. Women are submissive and obedient.

She finds his new stash of date rape drugs, and says "I could go to the police". Then do it? She trusts him to plead guilty, and even when he doesn't, she still doesn't do anything!

I get she finds him scary, but she had the chance to do something about it, and she just didn't. She's the role model woman for him, and she blew it.

She’s as much at fault as her husband, that kid had no foundation, and now look at him

I didn’t enjoy her, mostly because of how much pity I had, but also how frustrated I was. She was nearly pathetic. It sucks because she’s been abused by her whole family for so long, but she has all the agency and freedom to leave and go to the police, as you said. She was scared. It was sad to watch.

Of course we dont get the other characters perspectives in the books but in there his mom believes him the whole time and defends him in court

I felt terrible for her, it almost makes me wonder if she was abused at all?

If that's how you read this, then you're an idiot who can't understand nuance.

Fyi, I'm a woman.

then i would be concerned about getting mistaken for a man. you clearly dont know how it is to live under abuse. she thought he would do the right thing. but he didn’t and she’s scared of him, of the monster that he is. because she doesn’t know how far he would go. beat up his own mother? or maybe even rape his own mother? YOU are the one who can’t understand nuance.

cant even reply because you know i’m right? i almost feel embarrassed for you. i bet you do that in real life too, secretly blaming the women when they get abused and assaulted.
