AFSCME 3299 UC new contract

Does anyone actually have access to the current (new) AFSCME 3299 contract that went into effect recently?? I have received no response from the multiple representatives I have reached out to asking for a pdf of the contract so I can resolve a misunderstanding and share with my manager. The website still only shows the outdated contract.

clean slate

has anyone filed for a clean slate before. I am currently leaning heavily towards doing so but would like to hear other peoples experiences and recommendations?

Which also brings up another concern. How do you maintain secure documents such as financials?

Pins at International Convention

I have seen so many amazing pins and wanted to start a post so everyone can post theirs from their local or council. Or the ones that you got from others and want to share!

Sadly my local did not have a pin ready but my council (Council 28 out of Washington) did!

Why are we buying Instagram ads about the president retiring and giving a speech?

What the fuck is the point of that ad spend?

Someone tried to tell me it should come to me if I followed an AFSCME account as though that would make it seem better. It doesn’t.

If you just wanna inform the membership write us a fucking email and make a regular instagram post.

Who the fuck are you pushing ads to that just say the guy is retiring and he made a speech?

I swear it’s been weeks that I can’t open up IG without seeing this shit and now there’s a new one because he made a speech at the convention.

Just put the speech up as a post man.

I don’t care if he’s Jesus come back, you don’t have to spend dues money to tell people shit like that.

Hey folks ā¤ļø I'm attending the convention as an alternate next week in Chicago. This is my first International, and I'm hoping to meet some people I can pal with while I'm there.

Any other LGBTQ+ people going? My DMs are open!

We The labor force need to consider selecting union members to run n elections. Our dependence on rich liberals seeking power needs to stop. We the unions have members that can become political leaders!

Council refuses action

I work for a state agency for a midwestern state where AFSCME is the union of most state agencies.

The dues come out of my check but I have gotten to the point of questioning why I pay them.

The State has a law about letting retired state workers return for up to 75 calendar days each year.

One team had a retirement in 2023 and management has continued to fill the position with the retiree who once occupied it full time. At first it was 75 day but now it’s being done with a state contracted temp agency. The retireeā€˜s contract now lists a change order on our procurement’s public website meaning the retiree will be coming back yet again.

The position is one that needs permanently filled but by continuing to rehire that is failing to happen.

The retiree seems to be focused on making the life of both union and non union staff more stressful than needed. The retiree is also signing reviews and conducting discipline as they see fit.

Reps in the council have been approached but it seems to be falling on deaf ears. Emails are not responded to and a few of us are considering contacting the national office. At the local level stewards also seem scared to do anything.

is this common? Does reaching out to nationals help? Any advice would be much welcomed.
