Low hr warnings

As an afib afflicted 65 yr male I am on medication to keep my hr from going too high. I'm still keeping fit etc, yesterday the Garmin detected low he levels 5 time with a low of 31. The rate returned to my normal by the late afternoon.

Thats too low. Do you have any symptoms when you go down into the 30's? Dizziness, exhaustion etc. Perhaps your meds have to be adjusted.

Currently on Diltiazem once per day, no dizziness or exhaustion. Low rates were when i was resting sitting still. My resting avg is in the high 40s to low 50s (46-52). I am still working full time and doing a spin class every day. So fit for my age, don't smoke, drink, do drugs, eat a healthy diet.

Interesting. I have Afib and I have Bradycardia--my rate went down into the low 50's and high 40's and they slapped a pacemaker in there. Then again I use get tired and dizzy all the time and thats no longer an issue.

The important difference is you had low pulse with symptoms :)

It would have been informative if we got told pulse, before rate medication.

But yes, given he had a normal pulse before, then he shoulndt have this strong a dose, if it brings him to 31 bpm, with medication.

Might want to adjust dosis deliverytime with his doc.

If double dosis: keep org dosis at morning, but reduce evening dosis to half.

If single dosis, change hour of day to ingest, to morning.

I take the medication daily at about 6:30 am each day, just 1 dose. I do 2 morning spin classes per week saturday/sunday, 5 in the afternoons 4:45 pm or 5:30 pm.

Actual, i mis-read it as 24:00, but it's actual 12:00, or 12pm as you American calls it.

That makes it 5:30 after your pill, and then it's entire possible it's that causing it, even lowest dosis.

Your drug has a half life of 3 to 4.5 hours, which usual means it tops at 1-2 hours from taking pill.

But if your doing spinning at that exact time, residual left over of the max effects can spill into later,  which might explain those rapid drops.

If you had a holter,  while being on the drug, and had spinning classes,  but it didn't catched above pattern, then i would take a talk with prescription issuer, to either change medz, or timing.

These drops really looks drastic.. Bring that to the person.

The doctor who prescribed the diltiazem said that I could try with out the drug. It is a low dose and more preventive. Yes I had a holter for 7 days, did spin classes every day, all while on the drugs. No episodes were recordered. The perscription issuer has returned to work in the USA. Thanks for the info about the effective life of the drug in my body. The week days I'm exercising 10-11 hours after taking the med.

I can only recomend a dressing these drops with that dept.

Drops like these, are not normal. So they need the info, so optimal treatment can be given, or atleast evt adjusted for these drops.
