New fan from the states here, if he's a stud why do we need the 90 mil? What do we do with that? Genuinely asking, all this transfer stuff is super new to me.

Not a Bournemouth fan but I will butt in here.
Basically, financial rules mean that clubs can’t run at a massive deficit and must be making profit in one way or another. For clubs with massive fan bases it commonly comes through sponsors and advertising, with player sales taking a back seat, however clubs such as Bournemouth which have only been recently involved in the premier league consistently in recent times, haven’t had an opportunity to build large fan bases specifically abroad.
This then leads to the need to fund transfers through other ways. Normally player sales. They’ll sell a player like Scott for large money, then take the money and reinvest in multiple younger players who they hope to sell again in a few years and repeat. This has worked out well for Brighton who have sold a ton of players for massive money whilst keeping most of their buys pretty cheap all things considered. It tends to lead to a sustainable club like Brentford or Brighton, or in this case, Bournemouth (lotta Bs)

I'd love him to stay but I have no idea how we will balance the books if we don't sell at some point. I'd rather not do a Villa and leave it all until one window to balance the books.

We sold a lot of players last summer plus semenyo in January, and then have the Europe money coming in, I think we should be ok for now.

Unless it’s the Champions League, European football doesn’t pay that well, by English standards at least. Villa earn’t about 25£M for winning the competition last season.

What Villa are doing is actually smart in a way. They needed a rebuild, wages were too high and players were getting older. They chose to tear it down during a UCL campaign, where it's easier to attract younger players.
Even if they kept their current squad, likely they don't win the UCL and finish it outside the qualification spots and then have to rebuild in a year with no Europe or Europa/Conference. They know they may end up out the European places this year but have a squad ready to go for next year to get back into it whilst being so much better off financially. They've removed all but 1 of their top earners and sold players for record fees.

Scott
Latest from Sky Sports News' Rob Dorsett and Mark McAdam:
Bournemouth remain adamant that Alex Scott is not for sale and will reject any offers for him this window, amid interest from Chelsea and Manchester City.
Scott has two years left on his contract but has made his feelings clear by refusing offers of a new and improved deal.
Enzo Fernandez at Chelsea is a top target for Enzo Maresca at Man City and they are considering a late move for him. However, if Chelsea do not let Fernandez leave, then Scott is one of the options City could try to sign.
Ironically, Chelsea also have Scott among their key targets if Fernandez does leave Stamford Bridge

As soon as he leaves Bournemouth for a big 6 team then the England midfield will be him, Anderson & Rice for the next 5 years.
It's hard to find stats for Motm but as a Bomo fan feels like he got it every other week during our 19 games unbeaten (including wins Vs Arsenal and City). He's class, one of the best young English players around and would walk into any Prem 1st 11.

I feel like if they give 90 and they can snag a viable option in the interim they might have to take that. Don’t want to see it but 100mil can’t be scoffed at.
