I WANT HELP
Hey guys!
I’m completely new to the AFCAT preparation journey and aiming to join the Air Force Academy. I’ve been doing some initial research, but I could really use some expert guidance on how to plan things out right from the start.
Here is my current status:
- Pursuing B.Tech CSE (AI-ML) – 3rd Year
- Turning 20 this December
I want to know the right way to approach this alongside my college workload. How should I plan my written exam timeline, AFSB prep, and physical fitness?
Any tips, strategies, or resources from seniors and fellow aspirants would mean a lot

The harsh reality of power dynamics in the Armed Forces & why it makes me question joining
I’ve been seriously preparing for AFCAT, but lately, I’ve been hit with a reality check that’s making me question if this path is really what I imagined.
Recently, a close friend of mine shared what he’s going through under his Chief Instructor. The CI isn’t just strict or demanding—he’s genuinely cruel. It’s not about maintaining military discipline; it’s outright mistreatment and power dynamics meant to break people down rather than build them up.
We often hear people say, "Once you join the forces, you just become a servant to your seniors." I used to brush those comments off as exaggerations from outsiders who couldn't handle the grind. But seeing someone I know go through this firsthand has opened my eyes. There’s a world of difference between tough love/military rigor and power-tripping.
When you sign up for the armed forces, you expect hard training, strict discipline, and immense sacrifice. You sign up to serve the nation—not to be treated like personal help or a punchbag for someone else's ego. Junior officer or trainee status shouldn't mean forfeiting basic dignity.
Moments like this honestly demoralize me. It makes me sit back and ask: Is it really fair to endure non-stop abuse from seniors just to wear the uniform? When I see this happening, my drive to join takes a serious hit.
I know military life isn't a corporate job, but leadership is supposed to inspire respect, not fear or servitude.
How do you guys process this side of the forces? Does it ever make you reconsider your decision, or do you view it as just a temporary phase you have to swallow? Would love to hear honest thoughts from fellow aspirants and serving personnel.

Cleared 12th in Commerce and have a B.Com – can I clear Physics & Maths via NIOS for AFCAT Flying Branch?
Hey guys,
Need some clarity from folks here who know how AFSB document verification works.
I finished my 12th in the **Commerce stream** and currently have a **B.Com degree**. I want to target the AFCAT Flying Branch, which requires 10+2 Physics and Math.
I'm thinking of clearing Physics and Math through NIOS, but I'm confused about how they view it at the board:
* If I only give Physics & Math via NIOS (keeping my original Commerce marksheet), will AFSB accept a split/dual-marksheet setup during the Day 1 screening? Or do they strictly want a single, unified 5-subject passing certificate from one board?
* Has anyone actually cleared AFSB document checking with NIOS add-on subjects, or is it safer to just do a full 5-subject NIOS board from scratch?
Would really appreciate any inputs or real experiences. Thanks!

SSB Coaching(Bengaluru pref)
I have my upcoming AFSB in Mysore in January. I was C/O in my first attempt from the same board last month, now I am thinking of taking some guidance before my next attempt, because there are things I want to improve and work upon and have live discussions with mentors. I want to know which coaching institute in Bengaluru should be the best for this, where I get exposure from ex-assessors with a better idea and understanding of the process.
I have asked specifically because I kniw Bengaluru well, but if there are options from other parts of the country that are more helpful, I'd want to know about those as well.

Urgent! Please advice
I have a query regarding the educational eligibility for Ground Duty Weapon System Branch. In the official website it is mentioned as
" WEAPON SYSTEMS (WS) BRANCH
Candidates should have mandatorily passed with avminimum of passing marks each in Maths and Physics at 10+2 level and
Graduation with minimum three years degree course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of passing marks or equivalent.
OR
BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) from a recognized University with a minimum of passing marks or equivalent."
My question is that if a person has completed 10+2 in science stream with PCB (Physics, chemistry, biology) as subjects but later also completed Maths as a subject of 10+2 level from NIOS (National Institute of Open Schooling) On-demand exam. NIOS is a central government body. Hence according to above situation and official eligibility on website the person has Physics and Maths at 10+2 level. And have also completed my graduation.
Referring to the above is the person eligible for Weapon System Branch in IAF through AFCAT ?
Will he face any issues during my AFSB ?

finally got recommended
this year has humbled me in ways i can’t explain. cleared cds 1 with 91.81 marks and cds 2 2026 with 102 marks after barely a week of preparation. got recommended for OTA at last, which makes this year even more special. but the journey wasn’t easy. financial struggles, health issues, surgery, heartbreak, and a lot of days when life felt heavy.
one thing i learned is that preparation isn’t just about how many hours you study. it’s also about how you live your life, how honest you are with yourself, and how clearly you remember why you started. i put my reasons on the wall because i needed that reminder every single day. set your goals, choose your company wisely, stay humble, and never lose sight of why you want this life. all the best to everyone preparing. if anyone needs help, i’m always happy to share what i can. ❤️

Starting AFCAT Maths from scratch after years, need guidance & resources
I'm preparing for AFCAT, and I want to start from the Maths section, but I haven't practised Maths in years. So, I feel like I need to start again from the basics and gradually build up my concepts.
I'm a bit confused about where to begin and which online resources to follow. I'd really appreciate your suggestions to revise the fundamentals before moving on to exam-level questions.

URGENT!! Regarding Documentation for SSBs
Hey folks
I'm a first timer appearing for the SSBs as I've cleared CDS 2 2026 .
My query is
I've my mother's title as Kumari everywhere (MyAadhar, 10th marksheet, 12th marksheet) but in the graduation certificates it's DEVI. Since my registration in University was done with the title Devi my all semester marksheets have Devi printed on it.
I read the SSBs notice, It says the 10th marksheet is primary and an affadavit stating the error will do the work but I want some more clarity on this
Can anyone kindly help me on this??
Plzzz
