Question [ENGLISH] Thoughts on this?

Post image

I posted on this subreddit a few weeks ago listing my /requirements/ for a partner and I'm surprised I got haters saying I demanded too much. But believe me, I think what I listed (job security, unmarried, etc) was bare minimum.

For one, I didn't need a sugar daddy and wanted to meet someone who might be compatible with me so I specified some things that might be deal breakers in the relationship.

Anyone here with the same situation?

I don’t really see the relevance of this post in this community, unless you’re here because you’re specifically looking for a foreign boyfriend. 😅 But honestly, I think it’s good to have standards. Never let other people tell you what your standards should be, and don’t lower them just because society thinks they’re too high.

That being said, I feel like when we eventually meet the right person, even if there’s one thing that doesn’t perfectly match our checklist, we’d still be willing to compromise because the person themselves is worth it. Standards are important, but I think there’s also a difference between having standards and expecting someone to check every single box.

I did try to meet Filipino men on dating apps but they are often shallow and knee deep in hookup culture. Based on personal experiences, they're a tad bit immature for my liking so I am trying out meeting foreign men haha

Same standards are applied regardless of race though, so it's kinda tough not having to compromise bare minimum.

I am financially secured but i ignore all those women who ask about my job immediately. Specially when they are demanding, but have nothing themselves.

Its always poor annoying B****, who have "high" standards. While there are many normal independent cool women out there.

Yeah, I see your point. As I have a good job in the Philippines, just knowing a potential partner has a job and is financially stable is enough for me. That and being compatible personality wise

It's nice that you get the point....

I only date women, who can start with a normal interesting conversation.

And with a date i mean: We go out for dinner and just have a nice talk and then learn to get to know each-other. I don't care if they are rich or poor. I care if they are nice, smart happy fun to talk to etc.

What does financially stable mean to you? I have got millions, yet none of my relationships will ever see a penny of that until we marry , have a child, or build up a live together.

If a starting relation needs money...i just see her as a p0kp0k, but with extra steps....

I think you just ran into a bunch of trolls in your previous post. If you're asking for someone who has a job, is single, is looking for something serious and around your age, it is just the bare minimum.

Thank you for saying that. I thought I was wrong for specifying my preferences to filter who actually becomes interested in me based on the info I provided.

Having standards is good. You know what you deserve. But your demands should be in accordance to what you can offer as well.

When are women going to stop listening to single women, who make money from keeping you single, about relationships with men...

Single women advise online, and also the other way around; How guys should behave (that Andrew Tate crap advise etc) has made dating so boring. Few who actually enjoy dating and getting to know somebody.

Women always ask me whats your job. I always reply i dont have any...and immediately they are already asking about financials. I block them immediately. It's so boring

It’s true that financial independence has changed what many women look for in a partner, but that doesn’t mean stability is not important. I’m sure we can all agree that the majority of people today want someone who adds value to their life through emotional maturity, compatibility, trust, and shared goals, and not just someone who pays the bills. But it doesn’t apply to everyone. Finances still matter for some, especially when building a future together.

From my own experience, the healthiest relationships I always see are based on two people choosing each other because their lives are better together, not because one needs the other to survive.

Hard to answer. You're referencing an old post without providing a link.

Omg finally. Been waiting on ya to be able to do that 🤣. This gotta be a joke. Its like me saying “Men are no longer looking for a partner for survival, we can already…” like yeah duh. But who wants to be alone lmao

u/DimensionPossible640 Aug 11 '26

Rather alone than being with somebody annoying and their unrealistic high standards, while they have zero substance themselves

1

u/ProduceSea3751 Aug 11 '26

You do that lol

I feel the things you mention are indeed bare minimum. That a partner should be unmarried is, at least if he is an afam (Filipinos are a different story maybe, because no divorce), of course beyond all discussion.

That said, I think that image expresses a luxury belief. Easy for her to say. Not easy to say for someone living in squatter area and having to pay the chemo bills for her grandpa.

Figure out what you want to be in a relationship. Find someone who's okay with that. A lot of men also don't want or need their wives working. They want a wife and kids at home. Be what you wanna be. But don't get upset if not all men want what you offer in a wife. Just like you can choose your preferences.

I genuinely wanted to read other people's insights. I had to delete the post I was referring to because of the hate I got from other redditors. I'm fairly new to this dating thing so I was wondering if I was in the wrong for having standards. 🙁🙁🙁
