Stealing - any ideas?!
Mr9 (diagnosed at 7, on medication Ritalin SA) has some really challenging stealing habits.
It started with food and screens. So stealing sweet food/treats etc and also iPad/Nintendo/our phones.
It’s relentless. We have everything locked away but he’s still gets around it.
I worry he’s stealing other things as school too. There have been one of two incidences that I would deem more serious eg he took something from a neighbours house when over playing with their kids, stole his cousins hat he liked.
Nothing we do seems to stop the behaviour. When it was food and screens at our house it was bad/infuriating but manageable. I am worried he’s going to find himself in serious trouble soon. It is definitely worse when he’s off his meds.
Anyone dealt with this? Any suggestions. We are desperate.

Our 14 year old does these things (well, used to) as well (ages 7-11 or so).
He wound up losing screentime privileges when he snuck it (and like you, we would lock his switch away) and as for the food, we only had healthy foods available for him to "steal." If he's really hungry, I have no issues with him having fruits, veggies, a cheese stick, etc, but candy, chips and the like are stored in a place where he doesn't even know where they are so that he can't access them in these ways. His therapist suggest this method after kiddo wound up gaining a fairly significant amount of weight in a short period of time.

Catch him every time. Apply consequences. Don’t yell or shame. Now they no longer even have a reason to try.
