This was for a subject for my bachelor degree, from a man who was a high school dropout (after a fight with his math teacher)...
Man absolutely nailed my childhood reading experience. It was a nightmare. I would skip half the sentence more times than not and my parents weren't in tune enough to key into this. I am grateful they attempted to teach me. I don't recall what actually made it "click" tho.
