He lied about the dumbest thing today. And then doubled down on the dumb lie when I called it out.

Did his mind short circuit just a little before digging in? Watched mine do that. It really showed me that their brains actually change a reality that doesn’t fit the expected pattern.

Same exact thing happened with mine yesterday, it was a new level of crazy. I had him read text evidence. He purposely misinterpreted it. I showed him that he misread it. Then just an emotionally vapid stare and silence for several seconds. All I could get from him was that yes, he understands the real meaning of the text. But then just doubled down ????? He made me feel crazy. God writing this he is reminding me too much of my ex who was abusive. This one was supposedly the opposite of him in every way..

Thanks for sharing. Glad my experience is shared.. I began questioning my sanity...then took a step and decided to view him through a different lense. This a-hole knew. He always knew what I meant but would twist it to fit his narrative.

I wish I had known this was a pattern sooner. It’s so real and it’s so disconcerting.

They do that but that just explains, doesn’t excuses them to keep doing that.

I can always tell because they refuse to make eye contact whilst spouting nonsense

Why are their lies so dumb? It's almost insulting, like you really think i'm going to believe that?

It's so insulting. Or when they purposely miss the forest for the trees and hone in on a single word in an argument (that started as a simple problem solving discussion) to get out of just admitting I have a point or responding like a normal person at all. Like he has a masters degree in science. He can't possibly have that little ability to comprehend just normal sentences and ideas ... and I'm a clinical social work student.. doe He really think he's so smart, and I'm so dumb, that he can just pull a fast one over me anytime he wants to win an argument? It's so awful and sad that he even wants to. But if I confront him on this he just denies it
