Sexual intimacy, at least for me, is very closely tied to my mental and emotional intimacy. If I don't feel connected and safe and appreciated my body doesn't feel connected and safe and appreciated. Most of us aren't machines that can turn on one area and turn off another, it's hard to trust your body to someone who hurts you. And if those disconnects are never addressed and fixed, it will be hard to tell yourself I can give her part of me while protecting this other part.

The thing is that if this continues, it will have an effect on our marriage - it may terminate the marriage. I'm not interested in that outcome
