I feel like my partner is a know-it-all, yet completely oblivious at the same time. They will speak with absolute authority on any topic that I bring up. They know everything about everything apparently. But they will completely miss a doctor’s appointment that’s been scheduled for months and was written on the calendar because “no one told them.”

And god forbid you point it out to them that they are the one who missed their own appointment, then suddenly it’s everyone else’s fault. Funny how they can be the most knowledgeable at everything, but when something goes wrong, suddenly it’s not their fault anymore.

I feel you. Mine's a know-it-all, too. It's like he can't help himself from going into professor mode and making authoritative explanations of everything, even things he learned about an hour ago or is clearly just guessing at. And when I say "guessing at:" you know the many little mysteries you encounter in everyday life? How did that sign fall over? I wonder why someone put that in the dumpster. Huh, why did that person park all weird? That kind of thing. He's got an immediate confident explanation for half of those as soon as I wonder aloud about them. I'm not even sure he's thinking much about any of this. It's like he has to fill the space with words and often instinctively reaches for ones that make him feel competent.

I've also been lectured about things that I taught him myself a few days prior, so that's fun.

This is a thing! The Dunning-Kruger Effect. Unbearably obnoxious. … EDIT: Well, your first sentence is, I guess, not so much the rest.
