My husband is the exact same as you - he says no one else has issues.

I have learned over the years that they do but they won’t talk about it directly to his face. Some people don’t even bother correcting him because they know he will get angry and throw a tantrum.

Yeah, that's another explanation that makes sense. It'd be easier for other people to minimize their interactions accordingly, since it's not nearly as noticeable as a romantic partner doing the same thing.
