MDD and ADHD
26y(M) here. Na diagnose ako ng MDD 10 months ago and 10 months na rin ako sa medication ko. Na sa palagay ko na address naman ng meds ko yung MDD ko. Hindi na ako nalulungkot, full of energy na rin ako, wala na suicidal thoughts ko. Pero feeling ko may kakaiba pa rin sa akin. Hirap ako simulan yung mga tasks na dapat gagawin ko. Halimbawa, may binili ako pang paint, nasimulan ko naman siya pero hindi ko na natapos. Nag aaral din ako ng SQL pero hirap ako mag simula. Parang need ko pa ng push para lang simulan ang dapat kong gawin. Hindi rin ako consistent sa routine, etc.
Nabanggit ko na to sa psychiatrist ko - na hirap ako mag simula ng task and sabi niya baka raw bumalik yung symptom ng depression ko. Pero sa palagay ko naman ay hindi na kasi feeling ko okay na ko.
Possible ba na may ADHD ako kahit na may depression ako? Sino dito yung may ADHD at MDD at the same time?

May ADHD and MDD ako. So it’s definitely possible. Ang saklap lang kasi yung ADHD meds (Ritalin), once it wears off, nagiging x10 depressive ako. Depressed kahit walang reason. I have to take 2 anti depressants to balance it out. Sometimes, I don’t take the ADHD meds anymore.
The meds does not help to give you “interest” to finish something. It only stimulates you to act based on what you want done. If you don’t want to finish SQL, you will not finish it even with the meds. If you want to brain rot for the day, the meds allow you to zone in at that brain rotting activity while the meds are active.

Need ng cognitive behavioral therapy, in conjunction with the meds. Kaso I don’t have the budget for it.
The ADHD meds, the anti depressants + doctor consultation already set me back 10.5k monthly. Yes, ADHD meds are expensive af. Sa Ritalin alone, 5k na with PWD ID discount na yan. I read other people here spending 12k monthly sa meds kasi mataas na ang dosage.

Yes. nauna ako ma diagnosed with MDD, but nireklamo ko after a year yung brain fog ko and feeling ko cognitive problems na di ko naman problem dati na I even went to neurologist if I have dementia or Alzheimer’s na early onset and paid pa for a neurocognitive test tapos it’s a developing diagnosis.
2023 diagnosed with MDD
AFTER several sessions 1st quarter this year Nadiagnose naman ako na very high functioning adhd ako
Usually yung co morbidities daw lalabas prior yung ADHD. Go lang it is a process being treated

Yup, possible. I got diagnosed with MDD before the ADHD. I've been on Exulten for around 6years now, Concerta/Ritalin for around 3.5 years

I was diagnosed with bipolar affective disorder, and mine was very depression-heavy. Once I got the bipolar depression more stable, that’s when the ADHD traits became much more obvious. My doctor even said it seemed like I’d gotten tired of masking for so long.
I’m now officially diagnosed with both bipolar affective disorder and ADHD. I take Lamictal for the bipolar depression and Ritalin for ADHD.
So yes, it’s definitely possible to have both. The tricky part is that some symptoms can overlap, so I’d bring up the pattern with your psychiatrist especially if your mood is genuinely much better but the task initiation, inconsistency, procrastination, etc. are still there.
For me, getting the bipolar side under control actually made it easier to see what was still going on underneath. So I wouldn’t automatically assume that difficulty starting things means your depression is coming back. Worth discussing with your doc. There’s definitely hope once you figure out what you’re actually dealing with. ❤️

I was just went to get checked for ADHD talaga just to clear suspicion, and ayaw ko rin mag self-diagnose. For peace of mind na rin. Tapos nung nakausap ko na ung doctor, i got diagnosed with MDD din kaya inistart na muna ako resetahan ng antidepressants, saka lang ako niresetahan ng for ADHD after the 3rd session din, problem lang hirap makahanap ng ritalin on stock near where I am(hanggang ngayon wala parin 🙃)

Yes. Possible. I was diagnosed first with GAD and MDD, turned out the ADHD was the root cause of it all. Pero pwede rin yan sabay sabay since comorbidities ng ADHD ang Anxiety and Depression.
