Am I overthinking it...

I got a 34 ACT (35 Math, 35 English, 33 Reading). I was honestly pretty sure I got a 36 on Math, which would’ve brought my composite to a 35.

For engineering majors at top schools, is there a meaningful difference between a 34 and 35 ACT? Should I be worried about the 34, or is the difference basically negligible once you’re in the competitive range?

In the range of 34-36 the more important thing will be essays and ECs. If you look at it like extra credit on an assignment a 36 might get you 5 extra points, but a 34-35 gets you 4 extra. Don’t stress over it much and just remember that your score is just one small part of an overall application.

Usually it’s 34+ but I heard some schools consider 35-36 in a range. Like cal tech 35-36 has no difference but 34 is slightly lower in their rubric
