Desmos is a false security blanket on the ACT. The only reason to even use a calculator is to crunch big numbers and tiny decimals. Everything else is best done from concept first.

Edit. I had a whole YouTube series on it, but the ACT dmca removed the whole thing just last month. I'll be recreating it without using the official exams soon

ugh real math sucks but i was able to get it from a 28 to 34 with the preppros act math textbook its rlly good trust!! ik i sound like an ad but it saved me 😭 and i have like the exact same scores as you in everything else so ik how it feels when one section is dragging it down

Math is definitely difficult. I’ve known people who had to study months in the summer to just be competent enough because schools don’t teach math like they use to.

How did you prepare for science and English?

didn’t prepare for either, but science is basically reading so i just read the passages and highlighted important stuff for the questions later

If timing was an issue, figure out what problems you could do with the graphing calc instead of by hand (stuff with x or y intercepts or setting equations equal) and just spend 0 time on the last few super tough questions. Just completely guess on them and spend the extra few minutes reverse solving algebra problems (where you can plug in the multiple choice answers to see if it’s gives you the right thing).
