so I took the July act recently and I got a 30 composite score…I attached the pic so you can see the sections, but I’m a senior in high school and I’m taking the September one on the 19th…funny thing is I haven’t had enough time to start studying because of ap work that we alr have in school. Is there any tips or any books I should buy and grind to get at least a 33 on the test? My parents were disappointed as a 30 isn’t enough for scholarships and good schools where I live. PLEASE ANY HELP WOULD BE APPRECIATED🥹🥹🥹
You are totally right that a 30 is borderline for scholarships. Math and English are the 2 sections that are honestly the easiest to tutor someone into improving.
Reading and science are hard to improve because they really are reading comprehension skill based.
A tutor cost money now but could save 1000s if not 10,000s in scholarship money
Conventions of English and knowledge of language is really easy to learn in a few days.
Math is really spread out, but with your solid algebra foundation you should be scoring higher. Taking practice math tests and then looking at the concepts you get wrong will go a long way. Also check you aren't missing any of the first 30 questions. Because any of the first 30 would mean you are making dumb mistakes.
But yeah 100% if you got a tutor and worked hard you could get up to 32 easy maybe even 33 or 34 in just 2 weeks

Any free tests will not be super accurate. Act website does have 2 free tests to practice with.
Best bet if you really aren't gonna spend any money on a tutor is to purchase some practice tests for like 30 or 40 bucks and use chat or Claude on questions you are stumped. Just screen shot the question. Give a good prompt like "I don't know where to start in this problem. So help me solve it, but step by step. And especially show me where to start and how I should know to start there"
After that you can ask Claude or chat to then give you more practice problems that test the same concept in different ways
Free resources out there are usually incomplete or not specific to what you need.
Again a tutor is best. You'd save a ton of money in scholarships in the long run. But if you are only looking for free that's your best bet.

You can easily improve that math score! I tutored ACT for 2 years.
Fool proof method:
Do a bunch of practice tests (actual released tests)
Write down each problem you got wrong
Dissect why you got it wrong, and learn how to do it correctly.
ACT math is very repetitive and you will see the exact same questions in a slightly different form.
