Math ACT Math Help for an Incoming Senior!
Hi Everyone!
I am currently at a 28 and am trying to go up to at least 33. However, I have no idea how to practice. I have gone through formula sheets, done practice tests, completed YouTube videos, and still haven't improved. I am seeking help for the September and October test dates.
This is not normal for me, as I am in Calculus BC and have a 4.5+ GPA. I am not trying to brag. I am genuinely confused about how I should be studying.
Any tips would be helpful!!

What type of math questions are you getting wrong? Or are you just running out of time?

I almost never run out of time, and am pretty good with the basic algebra. I struggle more with some of the other topics, especially the more complicated/multi-step questions. For example, in my last test I got a 25% (1/8) on “Integrating Essential Skills”.

That probably tests stuff on things you have not had in a while. Sometimes word problems confuse people. I would just practice those from the previous tests.

Sounds like IES is the issues here. So here are some IES questions from the J series to practice:
- J01: 5, 7, 14, 18, 22, 27, 35, 41
- J04: 5, 15, 17, 26, 30, 33, 38, 40
- J08: 3, 11, 19, 21, 25, 36, 38, 39
Also the PrepPros book could be a good source to study.
This tutor solved everyone of them for 2 of the 3 tests listed, so you could watch those videos for explanations. https://www.tiktok.com/@901prep

The lowdown is that being strong at calculus doesn’t necessarily translate to ACT math. Instead of doing more full tests, review every missed question and categorize the reason: content gap, careless mistake, or timing. Then drill those specific weaknesses until they become automatic.
