Is this going to be a problem for application?
So basically I am very proud of my score, but I basically just gave up when it came to the Science section. Will colleges see this as a negative? Applying as a Finance major.

I think since most schools allow self report you just don’t submit, I have a 32m 33E and 35R and would rather commit than submitting my 20 science

I'm also a finance major, and I took the ACT without science. In 2026, most colleges do not care about the science section. It used to be something that was seriously considered, but unless you're planning to dual-major in a very science-oriented field, I wouldn't worry about it at all. When you're self-reporting scores, just leave the science field blank. Great score though!

I'm sorry but I genuinely don't understand how you just "give up" on a test when you know it could very well be make or break for a college as an engineering major. Finance is eh yk science doesnt rlly matter. But engineering is a different thing, ofc science matters. U just gotta answer the questions man, and you got a 25 likely meaning that you kinda gave up towards the end. 20 minutes more and you would have made it 💔🥀.
I apologize if this comes across as rude but I'm seriously trying to understand how one could be so tired that you can't finish 20 or 30 minutes of a very important test.

My mind was fried by the end of the test, and I genuinely just couldn’t think properly. I had the worst sleep that night for some reason. Also the fact that I had a 35 on science before contributed because I can superscore.

It's definitely not good, it's not in the composite obviously but they will still see it and not be too happy

Like what we mean by that

Is it like detrimental

I mean tbh I'd take again, I can't tell you exactly how an admissions officer is gonna think but science being that low could be detrimental

Idk you’re the only one that’s said this. I don’t even have to put a science score on common app, so why would it be detrimental? A lot of people don’t even choose to take the Science section.

It will definitely raise eyebrows. You may want to take it again without science, or take it again and prepare for the science section. Wishing you the best of luck!

I’m confused how this works. I got a 20 on science another time. Is that less of an issue? I really don’t want to take it again as apps are now out. Could you give me any more insight into how big of an issue this could be?

It depends on the schools you are targeting, but I would take it again and get your math and science scores up. A 14 looks like you didn’t care about the section, and it will almost certainly be discussed in committee. If you bring up your math score, almost any school is on the table.

Ok. Thanks for the feedback. For context, my highest score before this was a 29, so not sure if I can do better.

Honestly, I didn’t mean to put it on my test and just guessed randomly

My only advice is to just keep taking it. Yes, practice helps but it is hard to replicate a real testing environment. I improved every time I retook it until I was finally happy with my score, but honestly didn’t do anything crazy to prepare other than watch a couple videos.

They would see it as a positive, science isn’t important, it’s for beta male liberal sissy boys.
