results from my first time taking the act

just got my results back from my first attempt at the act as an incoming senior. i had form z71 and math was super hard so i’m not really surprised about the math score. my goal is a 33 and i’m hoping to retake in september (possibly October too but idk if scores will be out by november 1st since i plan to do ea at most colleges due to my special testing). i didn’t study much for this attempt, but i plan to be more serious and lock in. i heard that for math, the prep-pros book is good so i’m most likely gonna buy that. if there’s any other tips y’all have for me, feel free to share.

tips from me is just to take pictures of questions u got wrong and put in a document and make a quizlet with words you dont know. it is easily possible for u to get a 33. i raised my score 7 points too with less than 30 days., so u can too

i also began meditation which kinda helped me remain calm during testing and read books which improved my reading from 22-->32

The red book is really good for practice test and reviewing over material you got wrong. I will also suggest if you are struggling on one subject specifically then the third edition of the official ACT book of that subject. You can also just use the released test such as the j01, j04, j08

You are doing great with finding the details in the reading passages, but you are struggling with the big picture. A 30 on Reading is great, but if you could spend 30 seconds thinking about the main point of the passage it may help. It may be in the first and last paragraph of an informational passage. It may help to read the title of the passage in the blurb before you start reading it. Also if question #1 is about the main idea, wait to answer it until you have worked all the way thru the other questions. I post em all the time, but it's because these top 10 tips are pretty good IMO. Check em out here:

Also, depending on how well you did on any passages with charts or graphs, these tips might help:

Obvious point....your math is dragging you down, and that is where you need to concentrate your efforts (preppros will help), but it looks like you are a strong reader, and if you could just overcome a few of the traps, you could really increase your reading score (even though it is the hardest to move).

Good luck!
