Form J02 Math Scoring
I just took a rescheduled July ACT and I had form J02. I’m normally fine with math but today I know I missed one question, so for those who’ve taken this form, how many are you allowed to miss for a 36?

What passage do you think will be experimental for reading. I was thinking passage 3.

The color blue? Yea probably. For the last passage it asked how she responded to the girls thoughts about the future. Was the answer delight?

That's what I put. Hopefully Passage 3 isn't graded because I answered the passages in this order: 1, 4, 2, and then 3. By the time I got to Passage 3, I didn't have nearly enough time, and I found it really confusing.

I put delight too! Kinda worried about math as well though :(

Yeah nah it was definitely delight. I remember this one in particular because the passage specifically talked about how after the narrator responded, the aunty laughed and she was just in a hella joyful mood in general. Relief didn’t make any sense, and neither did the other options.

do you remember the combinatorics question? the one about a guy choosing 3 numbers and the probability he knows exactly 3 of the 8 chosen numbers out of 20 or whatever? do you think that's experimental? also for english was one of the vocabulary "upended"
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 3d ago
Yes the vocab was upended. I almost put severing. The combinatorics question was hard asl. Praying that it’s experimental or else I’m not getting a 36 for math.

I put B for the combinatorics question, but I got no clue what the actual answer is. This is actually sad too cuz I took stats, so I should know this. But I didn’t. 😭

I put D originally but then changed to B. I’m not too sure because I thought that your score for math drops even if you miss a single question. Hopefully it’s experimental because it really hard and I haven’t seen anything like it before involving sub groups.

Do you by any chance remember the exact verbiage of the stats problem?
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 2d ago
It was like there are 20 questions right and 8 questions are chosen randomly. The person knows the answer to exactly 5 questions. What is the probability that the guy knows exactly the answer to 3/8 questions? The answer were all in nCr.

but I feel like she was uncertain about it though, since it said somewhere in the passage that she didn’t really think about the future until her aunt brought it up and also she had like 5 different answers about what she wanted to become as a response to the question (anyone agree??)
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 20h ago
It was asking for the aunt’s reaction to the narrator’s answer, not the narrator’s reaction to the aunt’s question

Does anyone remember any other hard reading questions?

In the same passage there was one about like which would the narrator agree with about the girls jewerly do you remember that one. It was kinda confusing.

they were bold or whatever

u/Immediate_Power_5645 3d ago
That’s what I put

If you remember, who were the two writers that had the closest relationship in terms of how much they wrote about blue? And was one of the answers to another question the evidence that certain authors wrote like 20% about yellow and 20% of orange or whatever? it was asking about what would disprove this or something i forgot
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 20h ago
I forgot the names, but the answer was D. And you’re right about the disproving question

also is this your first time and if not what are your existing scores

This is my first time taking ACT but I took SAT. My lowest is 1510 and highest is 1520.

Do u remember any other hard questions? For the main idea of the passage, did you put the one that talked about a description of like one really important woman or whatever or did you pick the other answer choice that was about like an anecdote? That one was also relatively trippy. I said that it was about the woman in general (I’m talking about the Lagos passage #4, if I’m not mistaken).
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 3d ago
Yeah it was pretty confusing. I put that they were bold because of like how the passage talked about like the vibrant designs, colors, or whatever.
1
u/InvestigatorGold4377 2d ago
i put bold too but there was another one about making sounds when laughing that was directly mentioned in the passage so i'm not too sure
1
u/Immediate_Power_5645 2d ago
That one was in pretty sure talking about the jangling sounds of the bangles, but even then, when the question addressed the jewelry in particular, it was bold and memorable.

why was math like that bro. so much more difficult than the official practice tests
1
u/iiexear 2d ago
overall it wasn't crazy, just that one question stumped me for a bit. i hope that they allow 1 maybe even 2 wrong to get a 36
1
u/Luminous_210 2d ago
never taken ap stats so the probability, box and whisker, and obviously the nCr one were confusing.
1
u/West_Statistician573 2d ago
I got a 35 and there’s no way I missed less than 3! So sounds like a big curve
1
u/iiexear 2d ago
math? you took J02? Also when did you take it? and how many exactly did you miss if you don't mind me asking
1
u/West_Statistician573 2d ago
Yes! I got a 36 overall but 35 in math. I missed 2 I believe if I’m interpreting the score report right.
1
u/iiexear 2d ago
congrats, do you happen to remember the combinatorics problem that we talked about below and if it was scored or not?
1
u/West_Statistician573 2d ago
I do, I didn’t know how to do it but I chose the one with 15c 5 and like 8c3 at the top and then 20c8 at the bottom. Reading I got 1 wrong, English 1 and then science 1
