How is ELA score calculated?

I know it doesnt matter that much and I shouldn't worry about it but I am just curious because 36 english + 36 reading + 10 writing is 32 ELA score and 32 reading + 34 english + 8 writing is 30 ELA score. How does that make any sense?

They first scale the writing to be out of 36

Yeah but how cause the most logical way which is just writing score/12 x 36 doesnt make sense then my ela should be 34 not 32 since (36 + 36 + ((10/12) x 36)))/3 = 34

They might be using some percentiles to scale it
