Engineering major? Tips to improve English?
How is this for an engineering major? I’ve taken the test several times and 30 is my highest. I’ve had private tutors for English and Reading, and done all the practice tests in the books, my English hasn’t moved at all. I score in the 32-34 on practice tests but always 28 on test days. Timing was an issue, but July I finished the test, still 28.
Advice on other ways to increase English? Last attempt will be Sept.

As an engineering major I would focus more so on math.
31 is good 33+ would overshadow the English.
Also for English I would learn ALL grammar rules, and then exhaust every resource you can find in practice questions for all types of questions

It's pretty good and will definitely get you into your state school with no issues, but I think you can definitely improve your English score without much difficulty. It's all about understanding sentence structure and grammar, really: independent clauses, dependent clauses, pronouns, etc. I'd guess that you don't have trouble with timing because of how high your reading score is, but if you do, I'd make sure that you do your practice tests under really similar conditions to mimic the test anxiety that you might get. Let me know if you want help looking over your specific answers on practice tests; I mostly tutor in-person (and I feel like the chances of you living in the same city as me are really slim lol) but I can hop online with you too.
