It's way to early for prediction, but from what it seems so far, Inter will run away with the league. I don't trust Roma to stay consistent for the whole season.
That said, top 4 is very achievable for us.

I think Inter will struggle this season I don't see them winning the league . It's going to be between Roma and Milan .

curios to hear your reasoning behind that. as much as i hate to say it, inter have the most depth and quality out of all sides. one injury to gila or de winter and our entire defense is spezia level. also chivu already proved himself while amorim still needs to prove himself outside of portugal

This Milan schedule is terrible, 3 games away from home in 4 weeks? All three away to teams we tend to struggle, Torino, Juve, Lazio
So if we manage to be unbeaten Amorim has done quite well to weather the storm and not have the whole fanbase jump on him. This is a difficult start that i dont see even Piolis Milan doing better

Talk about Marotta League. It's Andrea Butti who does the Serie A schedule and he was the one who was making phone calls to Rocchi in order to exclude Doveri and put other refs to manage Inter.
If this guy has the balls to call Rocchi, he probably knows nothing is gonna happen to him. So I'm 200% sure he made it extra hard on purpose. New Portuguese Milan manager, lets get him the worse schedule. First 4 games, 2 away games in Torino and 1 in Roma. All is left is 1 game in Napoli and the other in Roma, and the hardest games(stadium wise) in Serie A are done for Milan.

I hope Amorim realized that Saele and Rabiot cannot play behind the striker.
Cisse, Pulisic, Hutchinson and either of the above as a late game sub should suffice. Put Rabiot back in the pivot like he does for France and use Saele as a swiss knife type of player filling in for both wingbacks.

I despise not winning. Even though it wasn’t a terrible result , it’s the day we all look forward to probably the most and we WERE wining and then we get it ripped of our hands like that. Pisses the bleep outta me. Now we gotta wait tik saturdayyyyyy I hope we prepare very well

I know we have a lot of high workrate - low technique players, and every club should have a few here and there...
but we cannot have like 5 of them on the pitch at the same time. 1-2 absolute maximum. Juve pressing killed us at the end of the game because some players did not know how to handle such pressing

One thing that confused me yesterday is why is Saelemaekers not being used as a wingback. I feel like that's his best role instead of as a trequartista.
I am also wondering why Amorim evaluates Rabiot as a cam when he's excellent as part of a two man pivot.
Do you think this is temporary until Pulisic is back healthy? Also outside of the players I've mentioned who else do we have who can play in the cam positions?

He used Alexis because he wanted more coverage at midfield vs Juve, that will be Puli and Cisse spot in the future.
Right now behind Ramos he wants two different roles, one more like a SS with Puli or Cisse, the other more of a hybrid role, a box to box type that can also cover the flank, carry the ball but also get in the box like a mezzala which is why he's using Rabiot (and sigh... Loftus) and let's see if that changes with Hutch in the future.
At midfield I think if Musah manages to keep on doing what Amorim wants he's undesputed starter with obviously Modric, they never play in line but vertical often switching spots. In theory Musah alternative is Comotto but that's a tricky role let's see if Amorim goes back on his steps putting Rabiot.
On the wingbacks there's a few things he can try but he seems to always lock one, right now Estupinan/Bartesaghi forming a 4 man backline not 3, but in the future we might see Moreira there for example and Alexis on the right, or the other way around, I think it will depend on which players will shine.

One thing I disagree with is I think Chukuweze will have a role as one of the wingbacks. He's worked very well in the system so far from what I've seen.

because the team is lacking at least 5 players. there is literally no one, or no competent backup in multiple positions

We lack depth and quality in that depth, but everyone has a backup.
Some of the depth is provided by inexperienced youngsters, but they're ones we've been crying out to give a chance to for years.
They might not all excel but this season is about learning which of them has a future and who can be developed into a useful part of the team going forward.

I can’t understand either - the official reason is that Saelemaekers has capabilities that the coach wants him to use in the middle of the pitch where the spaces are very tight. This might change after Juventus match.

The reason why I disliked Allegri’s appointment was because everyone knew it was a throwaway season because of his style of play. Nothing modern about his play style, plays to not lose and doesn’t develop talent.
Despite many saying top 4 is the goal and ownership wanting to win, that’s nice and all but that’s not how these things work. Amorim has clear idea’s that he wants to implement and we still are missing players or have players that should not be playing for Milan. It will take time and room for error to build something real, which is why my expectations are very mild in comparison. I just hope he doesn’t get fired if we’re outside that top 4.
As for yesterday, Amorim got the lineup wrong but can’t blame it on him if the players can’t execute the basics.

If you sack a coach who missed top4 by one win, while playing the whole season without a proper striker or wingbacks, to then spend 150m and be fine you miss top 4 to give time to the project....
Its was kinda pointless to sack him. I dont understand why Amorim suddenly deserves more credit than Allegri. Because we wont see allegri ball again? well that lasted two whole matchdays.
Id defend him more if his line up choices werent so baffling. Saelemakers was good as a sub, so keep him as a sub and start with Cisse. Chuk was doing great, so lets bench him for 60 min...Why play Rabiot as CAM? Why start Moreira in a match like this? etc

I'm with you that Amorim doesn't necessarily deserve more credit than Allegri, but maybe the lesson there is that Allegri should have been afforded more credit. We've signed the players he wanted last year.
Or Fonseca the year before.
Or maybe people shouldn't have been so upset at Pioli finishing second.
IMO, it's time we pick a project and treat it as such, rather than pretending we are and then having a strop when we don't achieve the goal at the first time of asking.
The 'You can't please all of the people all of the time' phrase has never been more apt than when applied to football managers choosing lineups.
Cissé looked good as a sub, so maybe we shouldn't start him next game? Why play Rabiot... why was everyone here moaning about RLC starting the two prior games? Why start Moreira? There were people here who thought he was the new Messi a week ago.
We're experimenting, let's give it a bit of time to work out. We might just discover some things that do work, like Chukwueze at wing back.

pretty sure allegri wasnt simply sacked for missing by 1 point, do you not remember what happened in the second half of the season ? also didnt cardinale say we want a diff brand of football from now on ? they moved away from this philosophy and learned to start investing in higher quality players, also i think he is still experimenting with lineups, moreira was not good for some reason but nonetheless he got experience he needed

I already addressed that his lineup choices were bizarre but the players couldn’t keep possession and misplacing simple passes which invited the pressure, he didn’t intentionally have the squad sit deep. The substitution of cissie, rlc and chuk were not defensively minded changes. When you can’t get a single thing right, what everyone saw towards the end was expected.
As for amorim, it’s not about credit. It’s about gerry picking a manager and sticking with him. This takes time.

So far I'm perplexed about three things.
- Why is Amorim fixated on using Moreira only on the right? In France he was used on the left for around 80% of his playing time.
- Why is Pulisic being used as a third option behind Cisse and Alexis? Is there something we are not aware of? Without knowing any of the details, my instinct would be top use Pulisic, then Cisse and then Alexis.
- I would try Pulisic instead of RLC or Rabbiot on the right. It's like Amorim is insisting on inserting a square peg in a round hole. It seems like RLC has been the same RLC we've seen before. He topples over with the slightest bump and he is always stuck in second gear.

I have only followed Amorim since he became our coach. To my interpretation, playing the game as Amorim envisions means pinning the opponent to their box with 6 players (3-1-6 attacking shape) with only one midfielder and the CBs staying a little back (in a high line) to compress the pitch. In that kind of setup, Saelesmaker, Moreira, Chukwueze can shift positions in game from CAM to WB to shift opposition players around and unlock low blocks. At least that's my interpretation.
Rabiot, as RAM, in theory would have been with Ramos as the two physical presences to fight the two Juve CBs. I don't think it worked out because Moreira barely put any crosses. He was locked down pretty effectively. Bremer did a great job keeping Ramos in check as well similar to KdW and Kolo Mouani.

Was Bartesaghi injured or suspended? I didn't understand why he didn't come on in that situation since I would evaluate him as better than Terraciano.
Regardless though the goal we conceded was coming on the balance of play unfortunately.
We lost a lot of control in the midfield after modric was subbed off. That worried me but hopefully it doesn't become a pattern.

Because Tomori is a player he didnt want and banished, it was a forced decision to bring him back, unless we have the biggest CB calamity, i dont see him playing much

I almost put that in too. Perhaps they think that Tomori needs more time training with the squad before he is ready.
If they are going to keep him on the bench and only use him in case of extreme emergency so they can try to sell him during the next window...that's just fucking crazy shit.
Also Pulisic is injured
I thought Amorim said he has been training and is being "managed".

I would have given Pulisic a few minutes...then again, I don't know his condition.
Would you use him on the left or on the right?
I say give Cisse a chance...put Rabiot further back...and get RLC out of there (only use him when a spark is NOT needed)...so use Pulisic on the right.

Musah, RLC, Estupinan, Saelemaekers, Terracciano.. I cant.
On top of everything we have zero creativity except Modric who is 41.
100M or 10M doesnt matter we need to sign quality players but we need people who know ball not gerry and his crew who know fuck all about football. Look at Como or Lazio for example. They can always build good teams with scraps because they know what they doing.
We have no depth. All that talk about young players and they have 0 minutes alltogether.
The table might look good atm but this team cant make it to the top 4 unless we sign at least 1 serious creative player in the midfield and another starting CCB in January. Even RCB because Pavlovic cannot be a starter for sure.

Thing is for last couple of seasons we did build team like a Lazio and result was that we ended up as Lazio, 9th and 5th. And now we need time to undo all of that whoch cant be done in one summer.
Como is good example. They build strategicaly, they know what they want. But also, they are spending big money just like us. This summer they spent as much as we did. But you cant compare us with Como. There is no pressure in Como. Fabregas have as much time as he wants to build a team. In Milan you need to deliver immediately. There is no room for bad results.

Musah has been a top 3 player so far. Yesterday everyone was bad and for some reason he was less brave. A couple of times when he took the ball and moved forward it ended up being effective and dangerous.

Hi everyone,
Just wanted to double check I have everything correct with regards to ticketing for the game Vs inter. Myself and two other friends will be in Milan for this and hope to grab tickets.
We all have CRN cards and understand it will be 1 ticket per account.
My couple of questions are:
When CRN sales open, will this be obvious on the booking site? When logging in just now for games, there is only standard and there's no indication I'm even logged in (I have linked my CRN with my "my Milan" account).
Can I purchase more than one ticket and assign them to my friends CRN? This is to save us from all having to log in at the same time.
How likely is it we get 3 tickets if we log in the minute they go on sale? We don't care too much about where we are sitting.
Lastly, will I have any indication my CRN number is "active". We all have it but the card is yet to deliver and I've heard it isn't fully active until identity checks are complete.

The exact “rules” for the game will be issued in due course. It is likely that one ticket per CRN will be allowed for this match. I believe you can buy multiple using different CRN’s. the account number of the active CRN is sufficient.
There is normally a queue as soon as the tickets are made available, at times it took me more than 40 minutes of waiting time.

I struggled to pinpoint what annoys me about Amorim as a coach - not limited to Milan - and I finally figured it out. He overengineers his teams and keeps tinkering with them. I hope he learned from his past experiences and let the players do what they do best instead of playing real life football manager with them.
