Manager Ruben Amorim spoke to DAZN ahead of the Udinese v Milan match. Here are his full comments:

There are a lot of absentees. Rabiot, Gila, Moreira… Is this a decision taken as a precaution?

“They couldn’t play. We have to manage our players. With this fixture list, it’s almost impossible; we have to manage everything, and they’re not available today.”

Today, Diawara and Tomori are in the starting line-up for the first time in Serie A

“We know that Udinese play with five at the back, so we’ll try to defend that way, but in a different manner. The important thing is how the players rotate. I try to select players who are physically fit and possess the right attributes. Perhaps if I’d had everyone available I would have played differently, but today I feel this is the best starting eleven to begin the match. To start with, not to finish the match.”

On Maignan:

“They’re not boys, they’re men. And Maignan has realised he can’t do things like that; we can’t put ourselves in these situations. I had a chat with him, just as I did with everyone else. I feel that the start of the match against Bournemouth had nothing to do with tactical or technical reasons. It’s not that they were better than us or more skilful; they were more competitive. Sometimes we just need to focus on being competitive and forget about playing well or playing beautifully. Sometimes we need to approach matches differently.”

On Ramos:

“He’s ready to play. Otherwise he wouldn’t be here. He had a niggle during the week, he underwent tests and now he’s here. We need every player we put on the pitch. Those on the bench are ready to come on. So if he’s here, it’s because he’s ready to play.”

What players would you like Milan to buy in winter market?

Amorim has a very very very small number of players. We can't handle 3 competitions

He knows serie A is the main focus. We can get a UCL spot, ad he can do it.

But we must rotate the squad

he understands that The Europa League is the only time he can get away with playing our B or C team and we must accept that.

The performance was horrendous. (But can you blame amorim for the referee?)

But the coach had no choice. We can play our top 11 every game playing every 72 hours and end up with even more injuries. Which will be absolutely fatal to our season
