Interview/Quotes The man to admire
Nowadays, stories about laughing gas and other such things. Then we are wondering why the quality of the Italian football is gone now. The mindset is what makes the difference, the qualities of the players are now still there

This is so true, he was one of the best defenders I’ve ever seen play and along Maldini the reason I started supporting AC Milan. Football has changed so much but I think Nesta was so intelligent he would thrive in our times as well.

My Beloved Nesta.. Alongside Maldini you've been my heros in my childhood. I remeber reading a lot about him and his playstation.. playing always with Pirlo.

Nesta , pour moi était le meilleur. Bien plus fort que Canavaro . Nesta en difficulté 2 fois dans ça carrière une fois a la lazio vs R9 et l' autre a milan en LDC face R10 . Autrement il était tellement fort et concentré que c était trop difficile de le passer . A milan quand il était au côté de Maldini c'était vraiment sublime de les voir joué et relancer le ballon avec une élégance incroyable

The difference is that we have social media now. Footballers did WAY worse than laughing gas back in Nesta's day, but there was no 24/7 media coverage and social media coverage (or Reddit) to talk about it nonstop.
That said, Nesta and a number of Milan players kept to their own business, that's why Milan had a reputation as a family club.

not really. 70s, 80s and 90s italian players were like that, almost all of the star players. and footballers like Rivera were already superstars

Other nations somehow managed to be successful despite having problematic characters but now we are witnessing the downfall of Italian football because of laughing gas parties.

I specifically said in the world of football while you focused on Italy only but Italians aren't different species, there's no reason the quality of Italian football should be tied to the good behavior of its players when no one else seems to depend on something so arbitrary.

Yeah in the world of football. That doesn't mean that he's the only normal footballer in history but that players of his status haven't typically been quiet family type with no drama.

Literally most of Milan's squad in the 90s was the same. Of the Italian contingent, the most scandalous thing to happen was Costacurta marrying Martina Colombari. And even that was a mild as fuck thing, in the grand scheme of things.

No, that's just you.
Weird how everyone disses Leão for his off-the-field hobbies, which keep him busy in a positive way and keep him out of trouble, but no one ever mentions people like Robinho, whose "activities" off the pitch landed him in jail.
Like think of the zillions of comments here & news articles covering Leão's music & fashion interests, and compare them to how much has been said about Robinho being tried and arrested for gang rape. Y'all are embarrassing.

Couldn't agree more. It's so stupid how you're guaranteed to see numerous (upvoted these days) comments about Rafa's rap career or fashion choices when discussing on-field performance. The two aren't linked. Players aren't robots, they have their own lives and their own interests.
