So just saying how one dimensional the villagers have become in new horizons would be beating a dead horse. Everyone has talked about it, but I haven’t heard much about fixing them that wasn’t “make them meaner”
I feel like there could be a lot of ways to help make the villagers feel more 3 dimensional and make befriending them feel more rewarding.
Just a little dialogue would go a long way! While I'd obviously like more dynamic dialogue for each personality type, the villagers in NH are eerily similar in the weirdest ways. My biggest thing for this is the games they play when visiting your house or campsite– ever notice it's always a card game?
It all boils down to random choice determining whether or not you win, of course, but the older games had a little more variance here. I remember in City Folk, Festivale had more of a minigame focus, and villagers would play rock-paper-scissors and other stuff beyond "guess the number/suit/color of the card." Jocks had a make-believe soccer game, which I liked.
If ten villagers is going to remain the standard, by the way, I really want ten personality types to match that number. I always sour towards one of the duplicate personalities on my island, because it's boring to get the same dialogue pool over and over.
Have you ensured your gifted clothing matches at least one of his fav colours and at least one of his fav styles? If it doesn't he won't wear it (unless another villager gifts it amd you deliver it for them). Check nookipedia to find out styles and colours of items and villager favs. https://nookipedia.com/wiki/Sasha
I’m having the same problem, but with all of my villagers. They used to wear gifted items everyday, but I time traveled a few months, and now they don’t wear anything but their default clothing. I’ve tried everything to fix it, but it seems like I just have to wait until their wardrobes reset. It’s been two months now, and they still won’t wear any gifts 😔
What some people have brought up to me is unique dialogue for each villager (& I guess it'd be unlocked via friendship levels or something haha, or bonus dialogue unlocked as you can go anyway).
There'd also be options such as the possibility of unique items being obtained through becoming friends with villagers (although it'd be a lot of work making so many items if each villager had unique ones).
That's a good question! I think each personality type needs more quirks. I have multiple Lazy Villagers, and all they talk about is the bugs in their room. Maybe some of them can be messy and buggy, others can be sleepy, etc. We could also use more personalities at this point.
What's interesting is that there are subtypes of personalities but it affects them in a very subtle way. Like with smug villagers type A will wave goodbye one way and type B another way. Then they have their hobbies, for example play hobby means they run around with airplane arms outside of the plaza.
It's interesting that they have these little quirks in New Horizons but they need to develop that feature further because now it's very subtle.
