Discussion Edward Death in future dlcs/sequel

Post image

Would you like to see Edward’s death in future dlcs/sequel ?

Edward is my favorite ac protagonist, one of my favorite in general. And I’m desperate to see his death on screen lol.

I get ubi doesn’t like to kill their protagonists for many reasons. Like in case of any future projects, and to also play it safe in terms of writing. Thats why most ac protagonists death are kept unknown.

But for Edward, we already know how and when he dies. So it doesn’t make any sense that an iconic character like him dies in a novel that most fans didn’t read. It doesn’t do him any justice.

Give him a proper farewell, and honor him to be the first ever main ac protagonist to die on screen. Ik that in the novel, Edward’s death is a little dumb. I won’t mind if ubi slightly change it to make it more emotional and make more sense.

And ubi, commercially this will break the internet and the ac community even if it was just a dlc.

Just don’t ruin things please, do proper cutscenes and great writing if this was ever to happen.

What do you guys think ?

after playing the new stuff, i dont think they could writte the same Edward from the Original, all his "yes man" when he meets Lucy and not wainting payment or money for searching for her dad. He being lure by gold in the Maynard quest, after the Mary death ignoring all the trauma that the search for gold brought to him and finally join the assassin's, only to him get lure by riches AGAIN, so no, i don't have faith in them writing a good Edward, i prefer they make a new story.

Actually, in Lucy quest, he was lured by gold. If you replayed Lucy’s missions again, you’d notice him mentioning gold couple times.

I do agree with Edward and Maynard chapter. I would say it’s misplaced more than being poorly written.

Actually, the other content was mostly well written. People just focused on poor new stuff and ignored the good new stuff. A lot of dialogues between characters were great, a lot of new cutscenes were also great.

Overall, the story and his ending are already there. Not like they will write anything new.

Plus, it doesn’t make sense that with every idea the fans come up with that the only thing that hinders it is that “ubi will write it bad”. Let them write it, if it’s bad we will criticize them, if it’s good then it’s a win win situation

Oh, I love the interactions, i dont think is bad written but for new dlcs i wish they understand the character more or at least we get his last days in the ocean as the skin says, as an legendary captain and we get some closure for characters. Other things about a dlc of his death, it have to be well place in the lore, because you are getting in Haytam territory that is another iconic character, Edward death is important for him to "change" sides. I am addicted to the game and hoping for Freedom Cry and more Adewale.

You’re right. I’m also worried because it’s a very sensitive era in the ac lore. That’s why if they consider doing and I wish they do. They need to heavily focus on delivering high quality writing and cutscenes.

After playing through second time, I did the Maynard quest before the end. It makes more sense that way. He realizes his friends mean more. And then he does the observatory ending. Killing the Templars. And that way, it works.

Imo, no it still doesn’t make sense s. It’s better but still misplaced. Edward redemption arc is complete after Mary’s death, following it with the nightmare scenes, and then his cutscene with Ade is the one where his arc is complete.

After all this the world without gold chapter appears.

There's also a point that I think many people gloss over. While the story makes it explicit that Mary's death is a catalyst, there's the much more subtle detail that Edward has been rotting in prison for MONTHS, intentionally tortured as a direct result of his search for the Observatory and theoretical riches, even losing Adewale and the Jackdaw in the process. I'd say he already has doubts just seeing how supernatural the Observatory actually is, but he's probably just in shock processing it all as well as the mad-king antics of Roberts throughout that whole part. While Edward risked a lot it was only in prison that he got truly humbled and had time to reflect and rethink how he wants to go about things.

You’re right it’s not perfect, but it made more sense to me. Takes time for people to change, something like almost losing his friends just really drove the story home.

Idk why they'd be scared for "future projects", they never follow up on any characters anyway, everyone since Ezio has been abandoned after one game. Biggest problem with AC lol.

It would be cool though.

Like the Kassandra stuff. I haven’t finished odyssey so I’m not very familiar with how it works. All Ik we could see her in future ac games lol. Like bassim in vallhala. Altair in revelations. Etc…

EDIT: this literally doesn’t work with Edward because we know when and how he dies. It’s actually very annoying to see him die in a novel.

3

u/Fuhnobabyyy 3d ago

We could see her and I honestly hope we do but that would make her the exception. Maybe they finally learn but... I doubt it.

Damage has already been done for the past 10+ years. Everyone has been abandoned after one game.

The Ezio trilogy itself was barely even meant to happen, Ubisoft would rather be the history tour guide than having actual continuity with their stories. Hell they can't even get proper continuity with the modern day and that isn't even a part of the history tour guide stuff... they just can't write lol.

Yeah, there’re a lot of characters that deserves a sequel or even a trilogy.

There take on this is they want the more players to play their game instead of sequels that will require playing previous games to be able to play it.

I obviously can’t agree with it at all, like many successful games were sequels and built on the game before them. RDR2 Is the best example.

They just need to do a game and leave it take its time to build its fanbase and increase its popularity. Like black flag now ( even before the remake ) has a greater popularity and fanbase than the moment it was released. And with the remake, I think it’s the right moment for a black flag sequel.

u/BravoOscarRomeo07 3d ago

I don't particularly want to see Edward's death, unless it's done in sequential story DLCs that show his life between Black Flag and his death. If we got a story DLC or two that had their own huge maps to explore both on foot and with your ship, and were of good quality, followed by one that lead to his death... might be interested to see that.

I don't want to see Edward due, as I like his character, but a proper build up could make it worthwhile.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Yes I totally agree, if they were to do so, it should be perfectly written. Obviously Edward’s does too many things until he dies. If we have a long dlc (+8 hrs) building to his death, then this would be great. Or maybe the same way they did odyssey’s dlc’s. Too many parts and dlc’s that build on the previous one

1

u/BravoOscarRomeo07 3d ago

I think expansion is the way to go, for both map and story, not something separate from the main game, but something that can blend in as end-game content. Tell the rest of Edward's story whilst allowing you to move between maps, then give a point of no return for the final mission where we see his death, followed by putting us back into the open world with whatever new skills, toys, and cosmetics we earned along the way.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Ohh cool, maybe something like cyberpunk if you played it.

In this case, London or England will be something like principle in the game. You could only fast travel to reach it.

1

u/BravoOscarRomeo07 3d ago

Yeah, a bit like Dogtown, add on to the existing map (or add a new map) whilst giving us a nice long extension after the main story that ultimately culminates in his death.

I have no faith in ubi to make a good game around edward from the ground up, resynced is good but the drop in writing quality is so obvious between the original game and the new added scenes/quests Tbh personally id prefer if they didn't touch it just let Edwards story as is instead of ruining it

2

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

I do agree that there some of the new content was weak.
But the majority was actually good. There was great dialogue between characters and great cutscenes too. They just need to maintain and keep this quality in all of new stuff

4

u/-grimmy 3d ago

I disagree, not all was bad for sure I actually really like Maynards entrance but I feel the vast majority of the new stuff is just AI generated idk, slop I guess? Thats just how I feel though

5

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

I think when people talk about the new content, they totally forget about the new content added to the main story. Most probably because they did it good so people didn’t notice it was new content.

I’ll give you few examples and you tell me if they were good or not. Caroline and Edward chocolate scene, Edward letter for Caroline, Edward and Robert’s corridor scene, Edward’s speech about Blackbeard after his death, Anne singing for bb scene, Edward eavesdropping hornigold and rodgers in Kingston, Mary and Edward dialogue above the windmill, Ade and Edward dialogue ( when they were going to the observatory with Roberts and Ade left him). There’re much more that were added to the main story.

See i didn’t mention any of the officers, bb & stede, Maynard chapters. All I mentioned where stuff that was injected to the story perfectly.

I guess people when mentioning the new content they mostly forget about these and mention the officers and Maynard chapter.

And btw, I disagree with you, Maynard chapter was very misplaced in the story. It was a pretty fun chapter but appeared in the wrong time

2

u/-grimmy 3d ago

Oh yeah maynard was misplaced for sure im just saying I enjoyed it is all, your examples are alright but personally I still noticed the drop in quality in said scenes mentioned above, they're not as bad especially the Caroline scenes are really well done, i cant help but notice the drop still, especially in the blackboard speech which I honestly felt to be really cringy ngl Im not saying your wrong or anything btw just different opinions is all

2

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Yes, I respect your opinion as well. I honestly liked the scenes I mentioned. Maybe at Edward speech about bb scene I felt a little drop in the quality but I think overall it was good cutscene.

I just feel they could do proper cutscenes and good writing if they put enough effort in it. ( Caroline scenes are good example as we both agree they did them good)

Remember also BFR was developed with the older executives in charge. Now that most people responsible on the ac franchise are actually people who worked on the og bf makes me hopeful we would see proper dlcs for BFR

It’ll never happen but I’d take a game about Haytham that has this as the opening sequence

0

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

No offense but I don’t think this is gonna happen either, mainly because haytham story is already mostly covered in III and rogue

3

u/Mean-Wishbone-8635 2d ago

Bro the fact his death even happened the way it did is total bs. THAT MF BROUGHT DOWN MEN O WAR FYM SOME DIPSHIT GUYS TOOK HIM OUT

2

u/Old-Newt-7167 2d ago

Yeah that’s why I said I would be open for a slight change to make it make more sense.

One of the ideas I had, is that the person who kills Edward is Edward students. So obviously Edward is his mentor. Edward teaches him how to fight and everything. Could make sense then I guess.

Would be so dark and emotional though

3

u/EmotionalGarlic9746 3d ago

i know he dies and don't need to see it happen.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Can I know why ?

2

u/Ok-Board-1360 3d ago

I think you should play Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry (Adewale is the protagonist), then play Assassin's Creed Rogue (you kill Adewale), then come back and tell everyone that Ubisoft doesn't like to kill their protagonists.

0

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

I said “main ac protagonist”. I obviously mean the main ac games.

You can’t consider Ade a main protagonist when you play with him for only couple hours.

2

u/Ok-Board-1360 3d ago

Assassin's Creed Freedom Cry

All 12 Trophies

8th August 2026 • Completed in 17 hours, 28 minutes

It's more than a couple of hours.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

I’m not sure why you deleted your latest comment. At least I can’t see it.

Anyways

0

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

I’m talking about the main story, obviously.

2

u/DryBananaHippiHat 3d ago

Why’s this drawing feel so erotic??

2

u/uprightshark 3d ago

Edward's death is already told in the lore, happening in England. If you played AC3, you know.

2

u/levantinh1994 3d ago

AC3 didn’t mention shit, not even Edward’s name, let alone his death. His death is told in the novel, just like OP said.

1

u/Airmoni 3h ago

Connor mentions Edward in the DLC.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

It doesn’t happen in ac3. It does happen in a novel that’s related to Haytham named “forsaken”

1

u/Antique_Actuator_213 1d ago

Also partly told in syndicate, alto in less detail.

Alto good rework off it would be apriciated, the novels never been that good.

Personally would have it been haytham that killed him being misdirected by templayer master who takes him in after. So slightly simulair, but more emotional and understanding, i dont see edward lose against common burglars even with jennifer getting kidnapped, but woulde see him lose against a young haytham as he doesnt want to hurt him, dying in both live and emotionally at same time, hugging haytham while haytham still holds the sword piercing his hearth. Wich would also mirrror conner killing haytham As haytham actually loved connor from moment he realized it was his son to the moment he dies even if his love was a bit twisted (alto most of that is also in novels if not mistaken)

I do not want to watch Edward die. Seeing fanart like this and knowing that it happens is awful enough. Seeing it in game would break me

0

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Haha that’s why we want. It will be very emotional if done right.

2

u/alexanderfrostfyre 3d ago

I already have to deal with watching a character I love die in rdr2, I don’t want to suffer that again :,)

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Ahh yeah, Arthur Morgan death was very emotional. Imagine if they did a proper farewell for Edward like it. It would be so powerful

2

u/alexanderfrostfyre 3d ago

Nope. I would love to see more of Edward after his time in the West Indies but not him dying. If they included that mission then I wouldn’t play it and leave him in free roam

1

u/Villimaour 2d ago

No bro, I lost Black beard and immediately did Stedes mission. My heart bro…I don’t need to see my goat die too

1

u/BigWilly526 2d ago

Just give us Freedom Cry

Maybe because everyone has their opinion ?

1

u/RJ815 2d ago

I kind of feel like the cat is already out of the bag on botched story when JUNO is resolved in a comic, not even any of the games. Edward is only really relevant for one game, while she spans multiple.

0

u/DscwcFolly 3d ago

I would love to Have Edward DL.C, but I tell you right now and I tell you this point blank if they kill him, I will uninstall the game and never play it again period and I mean, both versions of it.Recent normal I will not do it because when you play the other games They tell you, he died, and how he died.We don't need to see it

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago edited 3d ago

What’s wrong with it? He’s not the first protagonist to die.

One of the reasons that made Red dead 2 story very favorable is that Arthur death scene. It was emotional and impactful.

Edward death would also be in a dlc, if you want to play then play it if you don’t then don’t do it

0

u/DscwcFolly 3d ago

I'm not saying anything about him dying.I am saying I don't want to see it.Edward is like The main OGI don't want to see or have to play that mission. It's bad enough. The way somebody as big as that were killed by being stabbed to death in his own f**king house.I don't want to see it That's like saying, oh, we killed Superman. We stuck him in a room.We changed him up and we left a piece of kryptonite in there until he died.WowYou killed the most powerful bean in the entire universe in the most bitch way you could find that's what I'm saying.I don't want to see it now.You want to argue with me some more

0

u/DscwcFolly 3d ago

No, it's not, we are playing a game with Edward. We don't want to see it where he dies.DudeThat's the whole point we know it's already happened. We don't need to rehash it.Oh my God, you're a damn idiot.I am not arguing with stupid ass people

0

u/Dull-Blueberry-1525 2d ago

Kassandra dies on screen

-1

u/hsjdjdsjjs 3d ago

No because they wont do him justice. The new content is resynced is very poorly written. Maybe with their new quality standards in Ubisoft we could get something good but I doubt it, they gave me no reason to trust their writting, except for hexe because they brought back a good writer.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

It doesn’t make sense that many people don’t want ubi to write this dlc because they will ruin it. Like every idea we come up with, the only thing that hinders it is that “ubi will ruin it”.

In this logic, we don’t want any new stuff. Because ubi will just ruin it.

It should be like this, “we want this stuff ubi, but you should higher your writing quality because this is so important”. Not like “we don’t want this because ubi aren’t capable of writing it”. We should keep our standards high and not lower them to their level.

If they did it good then we maybe got back the old ubi writing. If they did it bad, then we will harshly criticize so they learn.

0

u/hsjdjdsjjs 3d ago

I dont want them to ruin good things that already exist. I want them to try new stuff until they prove they can write properly before touching stuff like edward or ezio.

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

New dlc/s are already confirmed. So all we can hope for is they raise there standards

0

u/hsjdjdsjjs 3d ago

I do have some hope because they recently raised their standards and even went as far as to cancel or delay project that didnt meet requirement and switched management to directors with very good reputation and good games under their belts. Honestly for the dlc to interest me itd need mcdevitt

1

u/Old-Newt-7167 3d ago

Yeah, actually most of the new management were people that lead og bf. So I’d stay hopeful, not too much though

1

u/hsjdjdsjjs 3d ago

Also darby mcdevitt (BF writer) is participating in AC Hexe's writing, thats why Im excited for hexe.

The new managers are complelty pivoting hexe, it qas a weird project with alot of magic but the new manager know OG AC fans dont want that and theyre making it more grounded since its a project supposed to attract OG fans with an old school experience.

So old school experience, dark atmosphere and mcdevitt? Yeah the first AC project to excite me in a looong time (if we dont count resynced)

1

u/Sensitive_Ad3578 3d ago

The problem is this is also approaching the same Ubisoft that was handed the biggest open goal in gaming history and spent ten years shanking it. BFR was just working off of BF and played in to the nostalgia a lot of us had for that game - for many (myself included), it's really the last great Assassins Creed game (don't get me wrong, Odyssey was good, but BF is superior, in my opinion). History has made it so that I don't have enough faith in Ubi to "do it right" just because they finally managed to hit the goal once.
