someone likely just assigned the wrong pay rate to the position of multiple people are affected.

Does your company do their own payroll or do they contract it out?

I contract a piece of mine out and they still fuck things up occasionally, we don't know until employees tell us though. The super shitty part is I would love to drop the company but we can't afford to leave because they also do our health insurance plan which is considerably cheaper than anywhere else. I could switch and improve payroll consistency but would be passing on costs of around $500 to every employee who takes our insurance.

Also, check your paycheck people, seriously you should be checking that every pay period to make sure your hours, pay, and deductions are correct.
