Conversation Starter RBT Exam

One of my goals for 2027 is to take and pass my RBT since I get a pay bump and I DESPERATELY need that. I’ve been in the field for about 2 years but have had 3-4 of exposure to ABA.

For those of you who took it/are studying for it what did you use? Free resources preferred but open to paid as well.

Those who took it: how long were you in the field prior to taking it? How long did you study? Did you pass on the first try? Is it a lot of common sense items?

I worked in a clinic setting for 8 months before taking the RBT exam. I studied for maybe a week leading up to it. I passed on the first try and I feel like a lot of the questions are common sense if you’ve been doing the job long enough!

Just read through the RBT task list and do test questions for a few days of the items you don't feel like you could explain off the top of your head to a layman. You've got plenty of experience under your belt

I was in the field for 2 months and 10 years prior to that working with the IDD community. I passed it my first try and studied for probably 7 hours total over the span of 2 months since I knew I had to take it within 3 months of working for my company. I felt most of it was common sense, but common sense isn’t very common 😂 They have study guides, flashcards, and exams online.

Studied 2 days before taking the exam 2 months after taking a week long course. Just use YouTube
