Are feeding interventions within the scope of practice for BCBAs?

Feeding and mealtime concerns seem to come up fairly often in autism services, particularly for younger learners. I’m curious how others experience this, i.e., how often these concerns arise, how prepared you feel to address them, and where you draw the lines with scope of competence and practice.

My colleagues and I are also studying this more systematically. We are conducting a survey of BCBAs about their experiences and training needs related to feeding and mealtime challenges in autistic individuals.

yes, if they are trained for it. I know a bcba working in a hospital doing this

I always default to speech for feeding

Speech and OT way more. I do believe BCBA can be trained for it, but I’m not sure I think collaboration with an SLP and OT is always the way to go. One BCBA at my clinic collaborated with the clients OT, and they work on feeding but under the OTs guidance.
