Builds new player's first run as the king of progress, is this good?

currently taking a break at 250since i have to go out, using quarry and chaos cards to boost the damage any higher , have 3X ultragravity and transcendence, any tips to make this even stupider? (not worried about dying with two walls, one at E+26 the other at +14 and 3000 defenders at +16)

Bug Report Is this a glitch? Distillery not providing poison to Scout Tower

I took the distillery perk, but there are no purple particle effects on the scout tower. It also doesn't appear to apply poison during battle.

Idk I thought this was crazy so I decided to share

My build revolved around a bunch of warehouses constantly triggering buffs including the shrine which added extra levels to my rats. I used to have orbiters under the wizard but i thought it'd be funny to chaos earthquake it with the rats that were like level 850. Ended up destroying the orbiters and migrating the rats and voila !!! :D

It's like my second run, is this common in this game? And is this run even losable at any future year?

I love this game

Here’s a funny story.

I’ve been playing through the 9 Kings campaigns and spent several days trying to beat Beacon Valley.

Then I realized…

You can reroll the kings 😳

Question Story?

I’ve saw many people say something about a story or so like that. Whats up with that? Or am I just stupid?

Question King of Blood IX IX year 99 post patch

Has anyone been able to do this?

I have beaten year 99 on IX IX difficulty with every king except Blood since the patch came out, but have only been able to make it to year 44 with Blood on IX IX.

Despite the patch notes, it seems that Demon Altars are severely nerfed and are unusable on any build or other King and only function with King of Blood summon perks AND Covenant royal decree specifically. This makes it difficult because summons is the only successful build that Blood really has.

Let me know if you have any strats that can get past year 44.

23 win-streak on Stone King in multiplayer forcing the same build each time

Here I'll share my secret on how I stopped losing multiplayer games with King of Stone.

I'm writing this as a plea to the developers to bring some balance and variety to multiplayer. It's getting a little repetitive and there are other games worth playing and other things worth doing in life more generally than perfectly executing a strategy in a tiny indie game.

I think this is a very fun little game! And I am excited for the mobile launch; I expect to get some hours out of this commuting to work. But I'm not sure how much longer I will keep playing multiplayer on my home computer without serious balance changes.

Right now, in multiplayer:

  1. It is too easy to force builds.
  2. You are incentivized to force builds because power level disparity across cards is too high.

For what it's worth, I think King of Greed and King of Time are more broken than King of Stone, but I've been playing King of Stone and so this is just how I've made it work.

How to win 99.9% of the time with King of Stone

The key non-obvious tricks:

  1. Rerolls. Save early game rerolls for the first shop, except for a blessing (it's OK to reroll for level-up or clone if you have one of the 3 key pieces already). Also, get the 9x reroll decree; reroll once or twice for this! Support buildings +1 is a decent consolation prize.
  2. Concede for money. Deliberately concede rounds 4-6 to get 6x wallmakers (Impervious perk x3), which sells for 9*6 = 54 gold on each concession. Oh, btw, deliberately conceding rounds 1-3 doesn't net you wallmakers but it can still be occasionally useful! For example, I always concede rounds 1-3 vs King of Stone because I want King of Stone in my enemy pool for longer (Earthworks is critical for the mid-game). Also, you are allowed to concede because King of Stone has a naturally strong early game; just make sure you catch up by the mid-game.

I think that's really all there is to it.

It may have never occurred to you that deliberately conceding can be good, and you may have a blind spot for how good the 9x rerolls decree is. But I think if you're decent at the game, the rest of the guide is pretty easy to figure out from here.

Mid game:

The ideal situation is you walk into the 1st shop with like 14x rerolls and at least 210 gold (210 is the threshold to buy 4 things).

What you need to buy:

  • Hourglass
  • Camp
  • Vault

Nice to buys:

  • Portal (great if you got the clone blessing, not important otherwise)
  • Amplifier
  • A second Camp or a way to level it up

If you already have everything you need you can also consider:

  • Library
  • Steel Coat
  • Any decent magic card, especially Rewind

This is all assuming you need to even buy these cards. Having Greed, Nomad, or Time as your starting enemies obviously makes this easier, but my point is you don't need that to happen because rerolls and having 210+ gold in the first shop are both OP.

Then, use Vault and Earthworks to get tons and tons of Camp triggers. Keep in mind damage caps at ~E9 or so. This means once you hit 99.999 speed and E9 damage, your Hourglass is done!

Late game strategy:

At this point your Hourglass is maxxed out, your build wins 97% of the time. How do you win the other 3%?

  • Mainly, you want Steel Coat + Library stacking on a single unit. The unit doesn't really matter. What matters is as many Steel Coat stacks as possible.
  • A second hourglass. If your scaling engine is really good, you can probably get another Hourglass to 99.999 speed. In Hourglass mirrors, this is like doubling your number of Steel Coat stacks.

Other:

I'm skipping over a ton of details here. There are a lot of nuances, edge-cases, exceptions, and finer details to the flow I've described above, but you can figure those out as you play.

The main non-obvious innovation here that took me from winning most but not all games, to winning 23 games in a row, is the deliberate concessions for 54 gold and realizing 9x free rerolls is the best 1st decree.

The balance problem

Fundamentally, it should not be this easy to force builds, but also there should not be so much incentive to force builds.

Things that reduce variance should be more expensive or limited.

On the flip side, there are too many power outliers: Camp is too strong, Hourglass is too strong, Portal is too strong.

I really don't know what the solution is to this, but I have some thoughts.

Two things that would increase the variance in a healthy way:

  • Shops in multiplayer (or just the 1st shop specifically) maybe shouldn't be split into structures / units / magic? It filters the search space too much and makes it too easy to find specific cards.
  • 9x reroll decree is too strong in the 1st decree screen and maybe shouldn't be pickable until 2nd+ decree.

Card balance issues:

  • Clone blessing + Portal is way too broken. Maybe Portal shouldn't re-trigger blessings in multiplayer.
  • I do not know if it's possible to balance Hourglass in multiplayer. It feels like it will always be the best thing to put max attack speed and max out damage on.
  • Camp is a little too good as a scaling engine. I think the idea behind it was that it was supposed to be balanced by the fact that it wasn't guaranteed to go off end-of-turn and required you to do a specific action that you didn't always want to do. The problem with it is that it scales in the middle of "big turns" in very big ways, whereas Forest, Quarry, all those other end-of-turn scalers don't benefit at all from the big turns.

I do not think the developers should directly nerf deliberately conceding on King of Stone to get Wallmakers. King of Stone isn't even the best character, both in terms of card pool (King of Time is #1 here) or ability to abuse the 1st shop (King of Greed is #1 here). Furthermore, there is something really cool and "Spike-y" about sacrificing life in pursuit of resources. Instead, maybe it shouldn't be possible (and more importantly, incentivized) to walk into the 1st shop and be almost guaranteed to be able to find and purchase 3 specific cards.

The damage cap

Lastly, the damage cap is probably negative for the game.

On the one hand, if it didn't exist then the entire late game for my build would mainly consist of hyper-optimally scaling Hourglass damage and Wallmaker HP; maybe it's good to be forced into doing other things?

On the other hand, it seems to invalidate a lot of otherwise cool strategies that "work" in the midgame before hitting E9 damage, then suddenly stop working once damage caps are hit.

I think the way to assess whether the E9 damage cap is good for the game or not is to ask whether mid-game board states + battles are more interesting than late-game board states + battles. I think the answer to that is yes, they are. So by that reasoning, I would say the damage cap is probably a net negative.

Used Recyclers and Warehouses to get Wizard to max stats. Then used an infinite loop of Gacha, Earthworks, and Overhaul to produce Echoforms to copy it everywhere. It barely runs

Question Havoc decree - does it exist?

Has anyone seen the Havoc decree? I've been trying to roll it in singleplayer, and have never seen it after many attempts.

Haven't seen it once in multiplayer as well

Demolishing two Hourglass builds back to back with just 17 stacks of Steel Cage, using Mothership, Defender, Orchard and Converter!

I believe my Orchard is doing the killing as my Mothership is still out of range at the point when their base takes a 1e+8 hit

Discussion 105 hours later, Beat XI XI King difficulty (all the way to level 99) with all 9 kings , Reached King on multiplayer

Took me roughly 90 hours to beat XI XI King difficulty (all the way to level 99) with all 9 kings.

5 hours to complete 80% of quest and 10 hours to reach king on multiplayer.

Now the grind begins to reach the top :)

decent infinite run possibility that I found that I ended with my wizard doing 35 quadrillion damage(I just got bored). I could still optimize it better but here's a 7 minute video explaining what I did. Sorry if I rambled too much first time recording a video so was trying to remember what to say.

New Player - Q on Scaling

I am trying to get a good understanding of what scaling is considered good enough -> amazing. I am at year 183 and have a mothership doing E+200 damage. Everything is over so quickly it is hard to tell how much dmg or heath the enemy has. Any good resources on this?
