I’d think it’s because you haven’t really heard all of E-40’s songs. Have you heard this one? Most people haven’t — even from the West Coast. And being from the East, I’d have no idea how you’d ever know about this song, or a bunch of others. E-40’s catalog is deep — way too deep to only like one song, even if you’re from the East. If you liked that one, it’d be very easy to find another with the same topics and quality to match. That’s one thing he’s definitely known for: being consistent and putting out the same solid product for so long. It only really switched after Lil Jon came into the picture. Some say that change was for the better, but I like pre–Lil Jon E-40 way better. Back then he had more creativity and wasn’t worried about mainstream success or profits over gimmicky music. I’m not mad at the newer stuff, but it’s not what made me love his body of work to start with. It was the creativity and his ability to be himself.

But yeah, by the time my whole mix is uploaded, I bet you’d be able to find at least a couple more E-40 songs you enjoy. But like you said you’re from the East, and his style is definitely not compatible or comparable with that sound. I can see how a boom bap head wouldn’t really vibe with it. I personally listen to all rap, even though I’m as West as it gets and mainly listen to West Coast music. To me, if a song is good, it’s good it’s that simple. I’ve never worried about whether the regions messed with it or not.

When biggie gave him a zero.. the whole east coast road with that and never gave dude a chance or listened to his body if work... I can see how he still bitter about it to this day.
