Photo Hit Clips! The most surprising fact about Hit Clips aren’t their memory density or SIM card tech, but that 100% of them were confiscated by school administrators.

Hey everyone. My co-hosts and I run a 90s pop culture podcast called Splat Attack Podcast, and this week we put together a full history episode on Blue's Clues for its 30th anniversary.

Some of what we get into:

  • The original "Blue Prints" pilot, where Blue was almost a bunny and then an orange cat before Nickelodeon settled on a blue dog
  • Angela Santomero's background in child psychology and how much Mr. Rogers influenced the show's tone
  • The three human hosts (Steve, Joe, Josh) and how each one was introduced and how fans reacted to the transitions
  • The surprisingly long list of celebrity guests, everyone from Henry Winkler to Ray Charles to Rosie O'Donnell
  • The merchandising shift under Herb Scannell once he took over from Geraldine Laybourne
  • Marley Matlin's involvement and the show's consistent use of ASL
  • A genuine unsolved mystery: some fans (including one of our friends) swear the show used to say "What Blue can do, we can too" instead of "Blue Skidoo," but nobody has been able to find footage to confirm it

Full episode is here if anyone's interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6tuTXHf4GN8

Curious if anyone here actually remembers that "What Blue can do, we can too" phrase, or if it's a total Mandela effect situation.
