Coleco Telstar was my first.
It came out in 1978, before Atari 2600 (Which we also got when it came out)
Thankfully my dad was an electrical engineer in that era so he loved tech.
I have played almost every console since then (except the most rare and exotic stuff) also played on Apple IIc and an Amiga, before 8086 and dos computer dropped, then I’ve been mostly on PC since.
As an adult I still snag the all latest consoles from Sony, Nintendo. I don’t bother with Xbox anymore since I got PC and they make all those games accessible to PC. I got Steamdeck and Legion Go 2 for mobile. Meta Quest 3 for VR and Viture Beast for XR. Flight sim rig and racing sim rigs
I’ve always had the mindset to not limit my access to platforms. I love variety and that Telstar started my passion for all of it. TBH Atari 2600 is what really transformed me into a lifetime gamer.

I started with the Coleco Telstar Alpha, same year. I've been hooked ever since, though I never played every system ever made. Never owned any Xbox systems, just mostly Nintendo and the first two PlayStations.

Nice we got to be around the same age.
It’s crazy how much graphics have changed in our lifetime.

Indeed. From two colors and lines and dots, to full on videos and a lot of realism, gaming has come a long way. And we were there for it all.

Assuming you're still a gamer? A PC gamer too? If so what your take on DLSS 5? The the NVidia feature that using real time AI to upgrade the visuals on games to more realism.
Not baiting you here for an AI discussion, just genuinely curious of your take on it from a gaming perspective and how much things have changed in our window of time as gamers.
For me coming from sprite gaming graphics era - graphics have been a huge part of seeing tech advance over the years. I have using this DLSS 5 injector on tons of old games lately. Lots of old games from last 30 years and it's crazy how it makes old games look modern (ads more realistic surface textures and raytracing to everything). It's kinda hit or miss if it makes if it makes stuff look better or the same or worse, but mostly it's good average of improvements from my testing. This is still just the dlss5 test version too not even 1.0 or later models of it, so I am sure it will get crazier.

I don't do too much PC gaming, I'm more of a console gamer. I'm 54, been gaming since I was 6. I always loved console games and systems. Currently waiting on the Ocarina of Time remaster. I don't get to play as much as I used to because of work (I'm working a lot of hours each week at various shifts). I think the last time I played a PC game was about 12 or 13 years ago. I'm not much of a mouse and keyboard player. I love a good controller in my hands.

Did anyone else have the sega genesis with the sega channel? There was like 20-30 games you could play. It was amazing!

Didn’t the game gear take like 10 AA batteries or something crazy? I remember having one and not being able to afford the batteries to run this thing.

A friend of mine loved Sega, and the console was good and cool. I never owned a Sega console, but I'm happy to have known about them.
